Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Final Nail in the Coffin - Portland Campus and others

Verbatim, from an email received within the past hour.

"The steps being taken will necessitate changes to current staffing at your campus. Staffing changes will be made gradually between now and the end of the calendar year. Some employees will exit in the near-term, others will be asked to stay for a longer period, including through the transition, to ensure that we meet the needs of our continuing students. Each employee will receive notice of their exit date as far in advance as possible."

Online is horrible. You can not do a creative degree online (or culinary). I saw the outcomes and they were horrible. Everyone in an on-ground school has seen it. They will never be able to compete in most large cities. I would encourage students to dispute this change and go to a community college with the option to transfer to a 4 year college.

They dropped it at the end of the day before the long weekend. . next steps. . faculty are encouraged to keep as many as we can as long as we can. . .we are asked to encourage them to return to an unaccredited school that is shoving them out or online. .

Just the absolute arrogance of this paragraph is astounding.

I can attest that they absolutely don’t care about anyone or anything but their bottom dollar. I hope the students make a lot of noise about this. This was all planned long ago and employees are just pawns. Take care of yourself first. Spend the days you are on campus looking for a new job.

@1qwc Fort Lauderdale and Portland and others closing were supposed to receive it though. Check out this post @TY6onLs. Either DCEH communications staff are incredibly incapable of even the simplest of tasks or there are more layoffs coming at remaining campuses. Neither would surprise me at this point.

...but they still have the chutzpah to ask for concessions and cooperation.

Are they giving any incentives to stay? Most companies would give an incentive to stay “until the end” and it is normally really good. If they aren’t , I don’t think they can deny you unemployment.
