Thread regarding Dream Center Education Holdings, LLC (DCEH) layoffs

Severance...

Do we think that’s happening, or no? Concrete information would be appreciated, but as always, wild conjecture and angry banter are certainly welcome.

Expect a gross violation of human decency. Why would they change the modus operandi that worked so well in literally thousands of other cases involving faculty and staff?

Be calm.... there is some bitter person here without hope.

But I'm sure my fellow Christians at DCEH are familiar with Matthew:

"And Jesus said unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm."

Let us have fait and be calm.. But ALSO let us testify:

Many of us have dedicated the best 10-20 (or more) years of our professional careers to Art Institutes and their students. Some of us have pulled 50-60 hour weeks, teaching, grading, prepping--year after year after year w/ out a complaint OR, in recent years, without a raise --at all. But we hung in there--year after year--Why? Because we care deeply for our students. We have led thousands of them to success. And we believe deeply in our schools, which we have also let to successes.

So, if we are simply to be cast aside without warning, and without meaningful severance packages that honor our years of service, well, that would go beyond unfair; it would turn into a gross violation of human decency.

But we know the Dream Center is led by dedicated Christians, who have publicly announced their faith, and worked in service of Christ. How could ANY Christian spit in the face of some many good people who have done so much for so many? Personally, I won't believe it. I have to believe that, at the very least, we will be given the summer quarter to finish, tidy up our students' affairs, and then leave with a severance package that takes into account our years of service. As I said--anything less would be a slap in the face and decidedly un-Christian. Someone on another thread suggested it would cost too much to offer us severance. DCEH can easily afford it, especially seeing as they will be raking in dough based upon a school WE the instructors have built up. We are the only reason there's an Art Institute at all--GREAT, relatively inexpensive teachers.

But let's hope things aren't as bad as some of the doom and gloom -ers seem to want it to be. As a devoted Christian myself, I have faith that the leaders of DCEH already understand they need to treat all FT campus instructors and long-time employees in the way that Jesus teaches: with great love, care, and respect.

You don't know the letter isn't real. I trust the info that employees at AiC that have shared. The only thing you are accomplishing by calling the person who shared their truth a sicko is showing yourself for who you are: a gaslighting twatwaffle and bully.

@TWUzhFR-cis Dude, seriously... I know this s---s, but you’ve got to be realistic. The first stage of grief is denial. I get it. I was deep into stage one most of Friday. But I saw the extra security & HR on our campus on Friday. I read the article in the Durham News Observer.

The sooner you can get through the steps, the sooner you can move on. We’ll all be ok eventually. It’s our students I worry about most.

Do we know all employees are paid through August 28th? I think it would be based on years of service. I find it hard to believe there is a blanket compensation. Plus in the past it's been lump sum payment not paid through a certain date, unless it's lump sum through August 28th. Let's not forget the original post from CO who said there was no severance. I just fine this information extremely unreliable. I suppose we'll all know more tomorrow. Let the lawsuits fall as they may. I think I'm going for mental anguish and manipulation, threatening work environment. They are guilty of that, and oh so much more.

How come there is nothing about this on their website? Seems like business as usual. Weird if the campus is closed.
