HR is just a shame of an operation. Supposed to help employees?!?!? Forget it. They are DEEP in the pockets of management. They have no interest in actually assisting people, just following marching orders from corporate to fire people, and then they also protect themselves from getting fired even though they contribute nothing to the product or business.

Normally this is a true statement but drastic measures are needed to make Bill happy.
Yeah ss&c doesn’t need an hr dept as the are going to layoff the entire sept an not hire anyone for two years or so. There isn’t a lot of benefits so there’s not much to explain. Hr is the messenger and the have little say in who they let go. Human capital is expensive to maintain so it easy to rid the entire dept. also each dept should expect it to be lean with minimum staff levels. 20 to 10, 5 to 2.. etc. they need to reduce staff and then consolidate depts. it easiest to kick people to the curb. The take the initial hit by by next year if they don’t reach 6 percent the will unleash more cuts. Teams need to work with less. Less equipment less manpower
Never, ever trust your HR department no matter where you work. As 1mtl already pointed out, they only exist to protect the company. Overly squeaky employees get blacklisted or ushered out the door.

HR got hammered today as well. I was in Benefits and I was laid off as well.
I get the frustration with HR, but wanted to let you know that we were not spared.
