Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

New CEO?

Paal time is limited, he’ll be gone in a few months...or stay as advisor to CEO for a few years...

Who will be the next one? Obviously not Patrick...Stephanie?

As we are so internally focused it will be internal solution Stephanie if NAL prospers well.

When will sales be held to account on missing target after target on revenue and market share, only way they seem to know is to drop prices and then stand back when c-appy pricing and inform everyone else to “work the contract” BS.

Fire some sales people get them motivated!

Pk is the outside hired management. Look it up. Didn't serve time in the field and never understood services. People means revenue in services. Without it you can't move a pebble.

Everyone below him had to go when he took over because he was challenged daily due to his incompetence. This created a vacuum for "yes men" which explains today's environment.

Also, slb never produced talent for their clients. They hire people to make revenue. Better at it in previous years but still same intentions. The goal is to sell the most expensive tools, equipment, software, and services possible whether the client needs it or not. Hasn't worked out to well lately due to integrated services applying this culture internally and the fact that NOC's forced them after failures and also PK thinking it's a great idea to be JV on the production.

Really, just to many bad people within now to make it a choice for place of work. What career does one envision working there? Just Google the place... Blows my mind!

The self centered approach of Schlumberger will soon penalize its market share and dominance. Clients are growing impatient by the lack of responsiveness and creativity from a company that is supposed to deliver superior technology. Investment in its NPD has decreased too fast and combined with a heavy product cycle process will result in losing the technology advantage that the company claims.

In addition the poor integration of newly brought companies or of legacy segments is already weighting on the company's reputation. Schlumberger is currently no longer producing talents that is useful to its customers, it is currently focusing on producing talent to promote its own so called industry changing processes. The balance sheet is ok so far though lacking cash but PK clearly does not have the full support of the board. He is kept there as a change might be more disruptive until someone else with a greater vision and better results emerges. I doubt SLB will hire out its management, I believe the pendulum will ultimately swing back and profit to the ones that will promote a different style and vision than the one put forward today. Those are staying quiet now, and must create relationship with customers and the board to eradicate the plague of managers that are eating this company from within. SLB needs a new blue print and a real inspiration.

Slb can only achieve growth through acquisitions. That means chase marketplace and resulting revenue. Good operations, bad operations... Whatever! Those bosses are disillusioned about their capacities because the big slb umbrella of being to big to fail carried their entire career which is built on lies, betrayal, and what not... screwing everybody over top, left, right, or below. Their incompetence will swallow profitable or useless acquisitions as it always did.

Just move on and laugh about it, which can be hard. But at least you're not the one anymore having to eat that Co#@.

Smith was destroyed by its own problems and people NOT by slb. The fact that it couldn't survive on its own says everything about the company. Remember it was Smith management who decided to sell the company to slb.

He has single handedly destroyed the smith organization by replacing all the original and experi new management with Schlumberger people who have no experience with the business but experts in playing politics. This on its own merits that Paal should be removed from his position

This company is a mafia built up from top to bottom. It will go same direction.

Those 2 along with a few more are a part of the rout brought upon by this guy, so not a part of the solution.

Need someone external and competent with a pair of iron marbles to execute a cleansing exercise.

Doubt it will happen though, balance sheet is still strong and with all the artificial gains from buy backs, guys from wall street still like him, since they can still pocket their bonuses from artificial returns he generates for them.

Surprised no one commented on us becoming 3rd in market share in former NSG region. Still no bloodbath to come.
