Is Pearson still planning on spending a Million + dollars to send the boys club and spouses to a 5 star resort (with paid excursions) despite laying off hundreds to save costs? It's usually reserved for the boys club executive group and their rep friends vs rewarding consistent top performers. I hope folks know they lost jobs so these folks can have their open bars and rounds of free golf.

LOL I always love the cheerleader who comes on here to post to lash out and call everyone who speaks negative about Pearson names
People who lose their jobs tend to a bit angry and/or bitter. I’m curious why the gainfully employed make time in the day to jump on here and “bully” folks for their HUMAN reactions and emotions. If your job is ever up on the chopping block I hope you’ll remember your elitists comments and reflect on why you acted like an a hole.
Feel free to set the record straight if you believe anything states here is factually incorrect...
Very bitter, angry people posting propaganda behind the mask of being anonymous and not accountable for the lies they spread.

You are right One Key was just one of dozens of failed products/campaigns/decisions and there are so many, but I think my favorite, which seems to have been forgotten, was in 2012 Pearson spent $90mil to purchase a small stake in B&N e-book reader - The Nook, only to sell it back to B&N for $28m, 18 months later....Meanwhile thousands of people lost their jobs, customers have been sold faulty products, and senior leadership gets huge bonuses....The game is rigged!

Piling on here, but in addition to JF's bonus and raise, don't forget the $82 million in tax credits from the state of NJ gave Pearson to move in into the Hoboken office for which they promised to keep jobs in the state.... One wonders how that impacts layoff decisions.
Agreed with the last poster here--we really don't care about customer needs on this site. Sounds like we already have your business so go complain to the committee folks who were bribed with lavish dinners, unlimited visits by cute sales rep with short skirt, and unlimited conferences in expensive hotels. Pearson employees usually only care pre-sales....or at least pretend to care.
I also couldn't help but laugh at last poster's name...."OneKeyisallyouneed"...I know that person is a Prentice Hall person for sure. Could it be ES? OneKey was another failed PH technology.
Dear IT customer, please understand that this forum is a place for people who have either LOST their jobs, those who have been demoted, or those who feel they now have impossible territories. We appreciate your struggles of not having enough multiple choice questions but we can’t help you here. There are still many with the company in a leadership capacity that can.
Wow, this escalated fast. Not sure what exactly is going on here, but one wonders customer wold choose this message board to share their beef, and why an apparent Pearson employee would show such distain for said customer.
Of course to those visiting this forum sending a group of top performers on an expensive LC trip while thousands of employees have lost their job in the of profitability isn't a good look. Almost as bad as JF's 20% raise and $400k bonus in the wake of record revenue losses. Employees (current and former) have the right to be pissed, as do shareholders, and as do customers who feel the decline on product quality and customer service.
Pearson has dug itself into a deep hole by letting go a generation of talent. That's JF's legacy.
Very odd and a bit disturbing that a "customer" would be trolling a layoff message board and crowing about how awful Pearson is as a business.
You have nothing better to do?
Not to mention that, despite your apparent care for your student's wallets, you fail to acknowledge the exorbitant costs levied upon learners by higher education. Gimme a break.
The holier than Thou attitude and cherrypicking of facts are so disingenuous and blind that I fear for the "students" who have to sit thru your classes and listen to your agendas clouded by bitterness.
Be better.

Stop asking people to share their personal info here, that's not allowed here.
Since you don't want to provide your actual email address and don't seem serious about your bet. Here is another way for you to personally verify I am an actual customer. Since we are not allowed to post name if you want proof look up the Editor, JN, for the Technology in Action textbook. Email her asking if a customer emailed her on Thursday June 21, 2018 at 11:48 am with the below text in the email:
It is a little discouraging that Pearson is just going to stop using Matching questions. It is extremely discouraging the number of questions in general that are now provided in the TestBank. When we first started using TIA there were roughly 70 multiple choice questions per chapter. I don’t recall which edition this changed with but I remember the other Faculty member that assists in building the exams also commented about the drastic decline in the number of multiple choice questions. Now we are lucky to get 35, Chapter 2 only has 33. So we have half the questions to choose from. We refuse to use T/F on our exams, don’t want short answer or essay that would require manual grading, and now you are removing matching. Unfortunately we don’t have many options remaining. As I mentioned yesterday in a different email to EH we will probably be much more diligent in our next switch to the new Office platform. We are starting to get questions at the College about Cengage Unlimited so that might weigh in the decision for our next platform. I am not referring to sales pitches from Cengage but actual questions from Administration as to whether a Cengage textbook would be comparable to another Publisher in terms of content or if the content would be drastically different. If their Test Banks have matching questions that can be imported to D2L and the Test Banks and other support materials have better overall content available that could also become a deciding factor.
Point her to this post if she needs proof and let her give you my name and college email. Have her CC me on the reply email to you. I can then send you the address to mail me your commission check. I am a customer and you will lose this bet if you actually have the guts to verify my claim.
Please email your information to idontbelieveyouatallgetahobby@gmail.com.
Before I even divulge my personal information. How much is your commission check and what proof would you need? Picture of my College ID? Email from my college email account? You will lose that bet.
I'd bet my commission check that's not a customer. Nice try.
When Cengage Unlimited was announced there was an overnight push by Pearson marketing to rename all usage of the term "Digital Direct Access" to "Inclusive Access". See? We named it differently. Does that not make you feel better about forcing your students to buy the same bag of crap‽ They're all included now...
Customer here and I find it appalling to be spending money which was received from the wallets of my students in this manner. Trust me I've seen the pictures from past LC and NSM. Make NSM a one day WebEx type event. Give the top sales people a bonus instead of spending millions on sending them to some exotic location at a 5 star resort. If LC is truly a reward for the top salespeople then no Executives should be going.
Pearson better wake up and start spending money wisely, They also need to figure out a plan to counter Cengage Unlimited. There are conversations happening centered around could a Cengage textbook be used in courses instead of a Pearson, McGraw-Hill, Paradigm, etc. If the content is similar I foresee a push to adopt Cengage. If the discussions are happening at my school you know they are happening at others.
I love how folks here are defending waste corporate spending during a period of layoffs and downsizing. They must be brainwashed CA or ES hires.
Hilarious that someone who was a guest on a leadership council trip and did absolutely nothing to earn it is complaining about people expensing a golf game. Irony and self awareness are your friends.
Not sure what the execs do as I'm not one. But I've been to LC numerous times - let's say over five times at a minimum. The point is that what the execs do is one thing - what the reps are allowed to do is quite another. And the reps are the ones who have to qualify. Work on your comprehension, "Guest."
To the last poster acting as this thread's Pearson brainwashed cheerleader--what rock are you living under? I have been as a guest at leadership council and golf/excursions were paid for by an executive leader as "entertainment". That executive leader also used his corporate card and created an open tab for everyone to use. None of it is out of pocket and expensed once they are back home and approved without batting an eye. I believe the OP started this as a means to discuss the layoffs yet the company spends on reward trips for the boys club.
Just to clarify - there is no free golf, you pay for excursions out of pocket, they don't have an open bar except for two dinners (no hospitality tent anymore), you aren't supposed to expense meals and the criteria for making it is much more difficult than it used to be. It's a great trip but if you're going to comment on it at least know what you're talking about.
Get rid of - or eliminate two days - from the bloated nsm if you're so concerned with expenditures.
Heard December 12 still in CR. Announcing the winners soon. Back when BK was running the show it was definitely the old boys network. Then that continued with Eames has been limited under RBs watch. That's a step in the right direction.
December. Sounds like someone is jealous because they weren’t successful enough to make leadership.
It's not disgusting if they're truly rewarding top performing salespeople - and in many cases they are. However, there are a good number of non - award winners who are invited based solely on objective criteria. That's ridiculous.
Disgusting
December
It's less than the weeks away. No way it's happening in July. Bet it gets rescheduled or eliminated this year.
Looking forward to seeing many pictures on Facebook of the chosen few celebrating their success!!!
Yes. It will be in Costa Rica.
That's a thing? Where can I find more info? I want to go!
