Root Cause? Yer Mama Didn’t Raise You Right!

Whoa, people! Two whole days, and no fresh new posts at all?!? Whazzzup with that??!

Lemme stir it up a bit. There’s been a lot of posts here about bad office politics at HPE, mostly-probably caused by “forced distribution reviews” causing much eating of the dogs, by the dogs, and for the dogs, in a dog-eat-dog world. Make the other doggies look doggone bad, so that they’ll get laid off first!

Well anyway, what I’ve seen at the intersection of hardware, software, and firmware, design in general, is the engineers don’t do a good job of commenting their code, so that only THEY can fix it. Job security. That’s been mentioned here before. What has NOT been mentioned here before, is this: All the other rein-engineers who don’t want to play nicely with You-dolf the scapedeer engineer, will, after you get their uncommented lousy spaghetti code to work much better, spew a bunch of buzzwords at you, and, since you cannot explain, down to the molecular or atomic-physics level, WHY your new code works much better, you are then accused of “not having found the true root cause”, and of issuing “band-aide fixes”. Y’all been there, done that?

So my favorite fantasy is to talk back at the design review: “Well, the root cause is that we’re dealing here with lousy code that you inherited from lousy code-writers, and now you’ve added yet twice the lice on top of the old lousiness! And if you want yet a deeper root cause than that, I do firmly believe that it is that yer Mama didn’t raise you right!”

Has anyone tried that, and if so, what were the results?

" job applications typically ask "have you ever been involved in a lawsuit with a previous employer"?"

...

Nope! Absolutely not! And my salary at my last job was $10,456,379.00 per year! They have no way of telling whether or not you're telling the truth! Thank God we don't live in the USSR just quite yet, and there are many-many employers out there, and they do NOT have common access to all of your HR records!

Yes, I suppose "Well, I took a leave of absence and decided to not go back" might sound okay for why you left your previous employer. But why didn't you go back? Not your cup of tea?

And don't forget for TC's and the supposed media blitz about overtime - job applications typically ask "have you ever been involved in a lawsuit with a previous employer"?

Good Luck.

To the "delusional punk" comment a hearty "Rightbackatcha!!!!!"

Sans any judgment, if you read some of the other threads out here you would find the answer already to the Forced Resignation information, but then I guess that would require one taking some initiative on their own part. Wow, what a concept!

Adios!

Sounds like y'all are on a fishing expedition out here for potential lawsuits. All has been reported to executive management already, sooooooooooooooooooooooooo, GO FISH.

Reality check for being on "leave" and WFR. Ya gotta know your rights. Just trying to help.

This website is a horrible idea. It was probably designed to share relevant information among "kindred" layoff personnel, but it is a very bad idea. You could have lawyers out here sharking for defamation lawsuits, the company blaming the site for a drop in stock price, etcetera, etcetera. Sharking off of people to see where they went to work at, if they DID at ALL. There are a lot of upsetting interactions that take place when companies are laying off long term employees and people will vent. But what will you DO if it's their 12 year old kid or a 7 year old because they are mad about what happened to Mom or Dad? Employees are going to vent when they have bad experiences and you can't take away their freedom of speech with their own families. All they have to DO is simply look at their family member and KNOW that something did not go well or guess about how bad it WAS.

I don't believe a single post out here that is not my own. Your leaders are NOT perfect, though they might claim to BE. Employees are not perfect either, though they might claim to be. It seems this is all a bunch of game playing and with the shareholders monies. Who says investing isn't gambling to begin with?

I would strongly recommend that the business try and resolve these issues or maltreatment with HR in the company, but then there probably isn't a REAL place for HR inside a building in the United States anymore? Or is there?

Consulting agencies fishing off of recent laid off employees.

This site comes off like a PUNK site. Like you are being PUNKED.

Good Luck.

Time waster.

Great post! But, I'm not a coder so I don't get it. I think the LGBTQ types have it figured out. Take leave time, no WFR if you're not there. Turn in the phone, and have some summer fun. Adios...
