Has anyone had experience with this pathetic excuse for a group ? Folks with ivory tower positions using horrid unworkable processes as an excuse that makes a 2 month project into a 6 month one. Instead of empowering and guiding the groups to effectively complete their projects, the drama queens over here, berate the employees making them feel completely worthless and extremely demotivated. Questions that need to be asked prior to a project being started are asked way towards the end and these endless discussions debating whether it was right to do anything, ends up in a spiraling slugfest. It seems that the exit reviews are more of education sessions for the out of touch business execs and the members of the so called ECT (Extremely Crappy Turds) vs actually exiting and completing a project. Too much silo'ed mentality, red tape and bureaucracy. The women in leadership roles on this team, instead of empowering their employees and fellow women, treat them more like sh-- causing irreparable harm. These hard working smart employees who are already overworked, then leave the company, rather than having to deal with this sh--. The newly hired change management folks just pile on the misery. They have no knowledge of anything and add to the red tape without having any understanding of the project/process. Management is trying to apply processes fit for a $20B company without realizing that we barely struggle to make $5B. Folks who have gone to these meetings feel that they have been ERT'ed (extremely raped today). They agree that these are useless, add minimal value and just prolong the project. RR & AG should closely look at this useless crap and should restructure this ASAP, else Juniper is doomed. Realign the people in to doing something useful. Learn something from Elon Musk, who advocates scrapping useless meetings and non value added sh-- like this. Sorry for venting, but this sh-- needs some real cleanup soon.

This group has multiple positions open while everyone is talking about layoffs , it reflect that all those who are whining and venting are wasting their time . Go drink some kook aid
Has anything been done by management, given so much venting, screaming and also facts provided in the posts or is still status quo ?
Do the VPs know what they are approving during these reviews ???? My opinion of them during my time at Juniper, were that majority of them were clueless and the ones who had some information were drama queens. Nobody knew anything end to end and used to ask naive questions.
RR is not going anywhere . all this talk of ceo change is FAKE NEWS!
Juniper is looking to hire Coriant's ex CEO. He will IOP the BEO.
There were some small cuts today in Inside Sales & Finance. BEO continues to chug along just fine.
Layoffs confirmed for next week June 12.
If you are posting here via a Juniper laptop, etc or even through your own phone that has the Microsoft management software on it, your activity is tracked by the IT security team. Any confidential information posted is tracked and might result in termination. So be careful.
@jphd, what good is this beo if it is NOT to drive “execution”? Instead they should just drive themselves to the ground.
That purpose is so retarded. Who has defined that charter ?
The purpose of the Business Execution office is not to drive Execution. That's just too funny. ROFL.
BEO's purpose is not to drive execution, but to help understand how well Juniper is executing as a company.
Agile is such a hogwash. It helps deliver functionality faster, lowers cost and aids bringing out products to the market faster. No wonder Juniper doesn't want to go Agile.
True that, @T0F5UWO-iftz. BTW, that is a great article comparing Waterfall and Agile development methods. As for introducing Agile, it will also help some of us get exposure, because most shops are looking for Agile experience -mostly startups.
Waterfall vs. Agile has been analysed and if you are interested please read https://www.business2community.com/brandviews/upwork/agile-vs-waterfall-side-side-comparison-01577489 .
Since this is a discussion that eventually relates to layoffs, let me make a comment here on that. There are pros and cons to both methods. However, in an organization such as Juniper, that follows waterfall methodology, there is plenty of room for dead wood. No Ops. Since Agile requires fast paced delivery, the unwritten requirement is that everyone delivers, and works in cohesive teams to deliver the most viable product that is developed and continuously improved over time, iteratively.
This is a hard transition for old timers, time wasters, politicians, posers etc. of which we have many. Therefore, this will lead to lots of layoffs.
Though this is one way to clean house, It is going to be a rough road, if we are moving some projects to Agile. It will how ever seperate the water from the oil and help identify the lazy bums.
In other words, if we decide to go the Agile way, hang on to your man purses and watch out for the rough road ahead cowboys!
@T0F5UWO-ibgm, you have a valid point. These processes seem more to hinder than enable faster time to market.
I am extremely baffled to see why in budget and severely resource constrained times, Juniper is following outdated waterfall methodologies to manage projects. Times have significantly changed and the need of the hour is to bring innovative products to the market faster than the competitors. One of the ways this can be achieved is a via a simplified Agile approach. The current processes add weeks if not months to an already delayed project and by the time the functionality is delivered, it's already irrelevant or has changed due to market needs. To change the command and control culture, people need to adapt and in certain cases replaced.
@T0F5UWO-ibxe Yes. A troll has appeared since last week who is going around swearing at people on this forum, mocking them, calling them prostitutes etc. Colleagues in Ams and EMEA has identified him as a "no-body who got promoted to Sr. Manager" last year from limited English and some phrases he used here which he also apparently uses in his official email. He is out of a Juniper political group in Italy. Apparently he is as deranged as he sounds and suffers from delusional grandeur of world conquest.
This individual was going around naming people and posting useless threats. I'd imagine the admins in the site nuked all of those. same thing happened to the other threads which he was trolling.
BEO expensive, useless WASTE of Juniper money. They add ZERO value and over complicate a process that should be streamlined. If there was a poll taken within Juniper and people who have dealt with them spoke honestly, this would clearly come out.
Lot of recent comments have been removed ?
Alex!!!! Have you read this thread????? A lot of well made points about BEO!! Maybe most of them need to go BYE-BYE!! Juniper isn’t wealthy enough to support all this waste of overhead! And they keep hiring more overhead. The rest of the company thinks this is ridiculous.
CFO must be drooling . Two juicy areas have presented themselves to be cut. Snip Snip. Cut Cut.
The lady boss of this group got recognized this month. Quite poised under pressure and very well deserved recognition. For once, try being good instead of spreading hatred. Goodness is universal.
Had a similar experience. Hopefully processes that work are implemented, rather than doing a one size fits all.
Folks who worked at larger companies before, try to force fit these same processes at Juniper without realizing that Juniper is barely a $5billion company. Juniper has to be more nimble and needs to bring the right quality products to the market earlier as opposed to implementing processes which would hinder that.
If you think BOE is a nightmare, wait till you have to deal with the IT Information Security team. I am in engineering and trying to work with these security folks is like living hell. If BOE is bad, InfoSec is worse by a mile. Surprisingly all the new hiring in IT seems to happen in this group.
I agree. AG knows what is good and bad and he knows how to fix problems. He knows how to do it and how to get it done. Its too bad he is not the CEO right now. He will make things happen by firing all the idiots in charge and fix this mess.
I think also Rami should step down. He is useless. Just take a look at the revenue, stock price and products that have shipped since Rami took over. Nothing worth talking about.
Based on my past experience, the top boss of this group is quite a competent person, has a solid reputation and one of the few leaders who can be counted on to deliver results.
Sometimes the premise of diversity/Tech women is used as a shield to retain some of the incompetent leaders at Juniper. These folks then starting building their kingdoms and create incremental havoc instead of making things better.
It's time to drain the swamp... let’s hope they start from the top and clean up the floating scum.
No personal attacks please. Please don’t let the Trumpian filth poison your minds. We are way better than that. Keep the discussion focused on facts and rumors.
How is anyone putting up with this sh-- ??????
Let me give the facts here regarding what I have to go through. First I have to make the presentation to my boss's staff. This is after I have reviewed and made changes to it, after multiple iterations with my boss. Second, I have to present it to our function's steering committee. Once I get past that, third I have to present this at my SVP's staff. The only reason the project is done was because someone in our function's senior management wanted it. Fourth, I have to modify my presentation to fit the ECT format along with a significant bunch of overhead process and change management slides. If the ECT approves, fifth I need to summarize the presentation and then present to the VPs in the ERT. My boss is in all of these 5 meetings. To schedule and go through these five sessions takes a lot of time due to exec availability. Sometimes what can be done in less than a week takes more than a month or more. I can rather spend the time delivering the actual project.
This team tends to market themselves a lot, but don't see any value from them. Lot of sr directors on this team with few reports. While process and efficiencies is what this team needs to drive they dont work as a team. They sit in a castle throwing orders - they are not even PMs, just phase gate police throwing orders and blaming people for not doing right thing
The top gal in this group plays often the "women" card and thinks - Ops is "old white boys club" and Eng is "old indian boys club" - instead of focusing on providing value via her contributions
Hey, it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Most of them are really good people and trying really very hard to help. Processes and the right knowledgeable people should always be there during check points to ensure that the right things are delivered for Juniper. Else it will be a Wild Wild West.
40 comments. Wow. Juniper folks are really getting riled up against a boring topic like Portfolio management.
Management tends to wake up towards the end of a project asking why do we need to do this project, revisit and come for another exit review. They need to ask the questions even before starting the project. Clueless, lazy or just incompetent ?
I went through this process a month ago and presented to the ERT committee. Initial impression was that these EP PMO folks were asking me to fill out a lot of documentation most of which didn’t apply to the project nor was adding any value. The change management aspect was just an unnecessary add on, most of which didn’t even apply to our project. The ERT VPs weren’t prepped by their staff, based on the kind of elementary questions that they were asking. Bottom line, the comments below kind of resonate with the first hand experience that I had with this committee. Tweaks won’t be enough. If Juniper is really serious, they need to overhaul this process to really make it work. Otherwise, it’s a time waste which could be better spent on other critical value adding activities.
Have these chumps managed to hire a new Sales and HR head so far ?
Have AG & RR been notified about this thread. A chance for them to course correct.
