Thread regarding Advance Auto Parts Inc. layoffs

Another great move for our commercial business

You would think AAP would direct UBER drivers to a commercial customer for service. Maybe even send them to a tech-net shop, but noooo....

Customers are the lifeblood of our business at Advance Auto Parts. As we evolve and grow, we continue to build partnerships that enable us to create better, deeper and more beneficial relationships with customers. As part of this focus, we’re excited that Advance Auto Parts has been selected as an exclusive partner in Uber’s new driver rewards program. Uber driver partners will earn 10% cash back for purchases made in-store or online at Advance Auto Parts and participating Carquest stores when they use their Uber Visa Debit Card. Uber driver partners will now be able to save money with every purchase while leveraging the high-quality service and world-class expertise of our 71,000 Team Members. We have a Passion for Customers – and we look forward to working with our new and existing Uber driver partners through this partnership.

Yeah the suits from NY are doing their best to kill this company. Maybe they really work for AZO or ORLY.

Agree/ the only money AAP will make on uber drivers is from selling snacks. Bring back the cashews!

Uber requires you to have a "newer" car... more than likely covered under a factory warranty. More than likely those driver do little work on their own vehicle and take it to the dealer for oil changes, warranty work and recalls.

CQ people threw in the towel a long time ago. Those that remain are just collecting a paycheck and benefits.

Yep. Many of the geniuses are former CQ people too, but they always seem to blame AAP.

Correction: Don't blame Roanoke. The geniuses now sit in Raleigh, completely detached from where the company was founded and grew.

These idiots running this company keep thinking DIY is what's going to pay the bills in the future. They don't even see DIY is shrinking every year due advanced technology in our vehicles. The DIY can't work on these new cars. But you bunch of genius in Roanoke can't even see what going on because you sit in your boardrooms so out of touch with the business you're blind. So keep on giving the commercial business to our competitors. You have already bought CARQUEST and ruined it's reputation for service and quality parts. Former CARQUEST employees are ashamed of what you have done but it's going to bite you back in the near future.

A classic example of conflicting departmental goals and incentives. One department is encouraged to form new partnerships like this Uber Driver DIY discount without considering how it impacts a huge potential source of commercial business. Has anyone in the C Suite ever taken a strategy course?

AAP hires only “yes” men. A test is given in the hire package. Nod 3 times and click your heels and you’re in!

We are going to end up like Toys R US.

This happens when a company is so self important and only wants "Yes" men

Way to go AAP. Keep driving away the commercial business with DIY incentives. Oh wait, I forgot that’s part of the plan to return to a retail only business model.
