Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

How do you feel about moving to Conoco's old Dairy Ashford Campus in Houston?

It looks like we will be moving to the Conoco campus on Dairy Ashford soon. I hope the moat has plenty of fish in it and not just alligators! Maybe I will be able to fish out my window!

i recently went to an interview at oxy and the HR rep was asking me the ins and outs of the traffic situation. It was funny cause they were all i lnto trying to figure out how bad it would be. Eldridge is the road from hell so guys good luck and I hope they appoint cops to direct traffic. Incoming you will have back up of Eldridge and dairy ashford exit from I -10, dont even bother going on HWY 6 exit because you will have memorial drive hell. Also everyone from down the street on eldridge has already started hating on Oxy for moving in, you should see the back up on Eldridge starting at 3 pm. Citgo employees are already going to get more angry and riot and burn their building down once the company goes under lol

Also whats up with Oxy HR they seen to not be very efficient. I think the person who interviewed me actually quit... cause i saw a whole bunch of open HR positions pop up last night

The place is a hole. Most of the older buildings literally stink. Better hope you don’t have allergies.

"I’m excited about the prospect of having all our Houston-based employees near each other and in modern, cost-effective buildings," Lance's email read. "This decision only impacts our Houston-area workforce, but it’s part of our collective efforts to build a new future.”

In other words its cheaper to move than to remodel the entire campus. The only thing nice is the reception area/gym and the parking garage. Sure a couple of the floors have been remodeled in the buildings. But its just lipstick on a pig. There are alot of issues , enjoy the campus.

Does anyone know of a layoff site anywhere that discusses possible or confirmed layoffs? Can you post a link if you do? Thanks.

Conoco guy here. The building needs remodeled but you are getting a great facility compared to a tower where nobody ever sees anybody who isn't on their floor. Notice the design of the conoco building. it looks like a bunch of donuts. it was designed that way to give everybody a window. With the fish filled lakes on my he complies, Enjoy your ocean views my friends.

A little history, conoco moved from greenway plaza to that Eldridge location in 1984, you are simply following the same. Katy is a great place to live, superior schools and your commute will be easy compared to greenway.

We are moving out starting in July. When are you guys moving in ?

To the person who is so ashamed of the people who post their opinions, Shut the F### UP! We don't care about how you and your HR colleagues try to prop up this sh*t company, and try to fool people into working for it!

I worked for Oxy for 6 years and after Conoco for 2.5 years. It’s my own opinion but I kind of liked the campus feel having worked either in a high rise building or in the field. It has a nice cafeteria area. I lived west of town in Katy and my commute was shortened a great deal. Don’t know if there is fish but we did have a moccasin once. If you live out west I think you are going to like it. It is old and a bit musty - I thought Oxy was going to upgrade a few things but of course I don’t know.

I am ashamed that the company has people with such little tolerance and capable of such anger and insulting comments. You have my prayers and emphaty that your you are so concerned about being laid off in a $70 oil environment. Hopefully the website administrator will block you and your insulting comments.

The office move is very important and we will continue to discuss. Simple right!

No, not simple. People are looking for information regarding LAYOFFS as it pertains to the company they work for and whether they should be concerned. Now they have to search through post after post of childrens petty subjects, millennial BS and what the Kardashians are up to if we go with your putrid idiocy, in order to find actual, real information regarding the subject and title of this website. Layoff.com. How does it get any clearer than that? Simple - right? Or will you just continue to advertise your mental challenges and ignorance by repeating the same immature garbage? No wonder some people have nothing but negative comments about the company with people like you working for Oxy.

Dear | Post ID: @SrGqIbC-Amrg

This can be about anything we choose related to the company and you cannot do anything about it. Read other companies post, it’s much more than layoffs and if you don’t like a subject you can choose to ignore and not read the posts that are not of interest to you.

Simple -right!

Nothing to do with layoffs. Its a LAYOFF website. A layoff is the forced redundancy of an employee that otherwise would still be working here, either due to lack of work or poor performance. Moving to another building has NOTHING to do with that and you idiots posting that it does are just that, idiots.

The Oxy CEO is a joke and like many other Oxy management is incompetent and full of herself.

Yes, it’s a life changing event for people who commute in from Kingwood, the Woodlands or live a mile from the office today. It’s a consideration that will drive some talented employees to leave the company. It’s a topic that is pertinent to this site. There are many concerned employees who are already engaging with recruiters to leave the company. Schools and spouses who work in the city will keep many employees from making the move.

The company came out with a list of Q&A about the campus and the move. Appears they believe the campus is no in need of renovations. CoP was very clear the campus was in need of renovations. It’s insulting that Oxy xecs think it is good enough. Also, look at the executive floor 31 of Gw5 and the rest of the building. There are some floors that are disgusting and have not been updated since the early 2000s’ but the exec floor is 5 star luxury.

Also, what is the basis to determine the COP campus is a good investment for shareholders or it will create innovation? It’s a tired old facility in an undesirable area of HOUSTON . It is oversized for the size of the company and is in an area that had severe flooding even if the campus did not flood.. Oxy is subjecting employees who today live and work in areas without flooding to be exposed driving into areas that flood.

Greenway lease expires 2025.

COP campus will need to be completely refurbished except for one new building and garage. This will take several years.

Anyway, I totally look forward to a commute that will be cut in half from Katy

It’s old and will be costly to maintain. If it was so great why didn’t COP stay in the space?
