@S0Fk5Wj-3cds, OP did not constrain the context to this website only. Why would you assume it to be like that?

It could be office chatter, or a conversation with a coworker. I know of several people not on this website who are at DST and not concerned about layoffs at all. They don't think it will affect them. They don't see their roles as redundant or replaceable. The question was to explore the stories beyond this forum, seeking a more varied sentiment. Your attempted wit has exposed your lack of imagination.

A couple of rumors were unfounded. Others came to be. You can't believe everything you read or hear through the grapevine. All stories have an ending. Acquisitions are a dime a dozen. They happen everyday. Of course, when it hits home, it takes on new meaning. This company has seen good days...and bad days. Look at Sears, or Blockbuster. You have to move ahead and keep up with the times. There's a LOT of "old school" managers who are more concerned with the type of shoes you're wearing, or if you've punched in on time, instead of whether or not this company is moving forward. There are managers who have zero interpersonal skills. On the other hand, there are non-micro-manage, intelligent, progressive managers as well. This company is compartmentalized to the point where you can't do your job because all of the elements needed are wrapped up in the red tape of whatever component silo they exist. Given that, perhaps the acquisition is a good thing. Perhaps this company CAN move forward. Of course, if you're handed the "pink slip", it won't matter. Time will tell.

I can't say for sure but I imagine there are some in HR who think they are invincible. Quite a few cases of blind loyalty over the years ....
