Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Voluntary WFR

Has anyone had success with requesting a WFR? I found another job already so I figure it couldn't hurt to ask. Anyone successful with this?

I second what you have said. I too have come across folks who have been wfr'd and the very next week they are working in another company. No waiting for 3 months.

I know a handful of people that knew it was coming or asked for it. Then the next Monday they started their new jobs. They did not have to sign anything saying they would not work for 3 months. Are you not US?

Layoff with severance usually stipulates that if you take the severance such as 3 months pay. You sign a letter stating you will not work for 3 months or they will make you pay back the money. Companies even go as far as making you report monthly about whether or not you're working to get out of paying you. They will even email and call you that's how bad it is.

Why are you putting yourself in that nightmarish situation? Just get the F*** out of there, and with your life.

DO NOT QUIT. (except for a very sizeable salary increase) Consider the unemployment benefits that HPE will also have to pay part of the package also.

Waiting for my 2017 W-2, that the divorce will finally be over.

It is all about timing. a co-worker in Palo-Alto asked to be WFR'd last summer. It was a time when there was rampant WFR across the board. Her boss gladly accepted her WFR request since the company was on the hunt of WFR candidates that time. If you ask now, you will only get it if the WFR grim reaper is making its rounds in your department. If not, HPE will be glad that you quit so that they wont pay any package.
