Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Rumor of Layoffs March 13'th

There has been deep discussions at the ELT level of a global company wide layoff planned for March 13'th 2018.

All of the internal reorganizations that are occurring currently will be completed by end of January. This will allow the ELT several weeks to plan the trimming across the company and start to finalize the layoff plan by February end.

The RIF actions to employees will begin on March 13'th. There is a planned 8% reduction across the company.

Raleigh, Santa Clara and Fort Lauderdale will be hit the hardest in that order.

The whole purpose of this layoff is to open additional requisitions to continue to transform Citrix to a cloud company. The October 2017 layoff did not provide sufficient open requisitions to enable the digital transformation of the company to a cloud SaaS company.

My information is solid and well placed but please post if you have additional information on the March 13'th layoffs.

Is this going to afftect only the support team? Or are parts of sales, marketing and other departments in Raleigh expected to also get the boot too?

Companies do not have to give severance but I'll be sticking around to find out. Speaking with those that were let go in October got a fat check. I'll take my chances.

Wearing buttons, protesting, walking out, etc. isn't going to change their decision.

What is a walk out going to accomplish? If they want to lay off, they will. Walking out will just reinforce their decision. Take the pay out that comes with the lay off. Don't jeopardize it by protesting.

Maybe they'll push the lay off date back due to this thread. Hence the open house

Its pretty onvious they planned the open house in direct response to this thread. I doubt at this point anything will happen.

Just a few more days to go for the first major layoff of the year. Lots of boxes arrived in shipping yesterday in Santa Clara.

Maybe this is really happening

I just don't understand how if they're laying off, same day as open house, what makes them think anyone would want to work there. This I don't get.

But the extracurricular activities is WHY we have bad management. How else do you explain certain people moving up the ranks without demonstrating any ability? Bangkok is closer than you think.

Maybe if we all practice this ritual together we can improve our chances of it coming to fruition for us? I also want to get a package and move on from this freaking $h1t show. After over a decade here I’ve had enough.

Should we be worried. We are a remote team and our manager was planning to visit us this week. At the last minute he canceled and said he will be here week of March 13’th.

This is too much of a coincidence , should we be worried we are on the target hit list for March 13’th?

I’ll rub mud on my body and run around the fire in pagan rituals to get on the March 13’th layoff list.

Please let my wish come true and release me from the living mediocre circus called Citrix.

It would be fitting that everyone attending the Raleigh “open house “ event will receive their pink slip walking papers. The “open house” is just a convenient way of getting all the victims in one place at the same time. It happens in high tech all the time where everyone in the company receives their layoff notices at the Christmas or summer party. Lazy in-Human Resources.

It would be in line with the current ELT way of doing things. Run the company to the groud with one hand and steal in broad daylight from the RSU treasury with the other hand .

It's a sad state of affairs that Citrix's leadership has less credibility than anonymous posts on this site.

The March 13 "Open House" event in Raleigh has clearly been organized to undermine the credibility of the rumors in this thread.

just barely a month to go for the first layoff of 2018. Heard rumor the ELT was huddled somewhere in seclusion to finalize the hit list. They are looking forward to adding all the shares of the dearly departed to their personal coffers as part of additional RSU grants.

Good luck everyone and lets pray the layoff package is a good one this time.

There are a lot of dollars still left in the restructuring budget...

I think @gnkz’s analysis is on point, and based on everything I’ve read here, and comparing that with what was rumored and what eventually happened in October...folks should be prepared for March 13th. Given that some of the more obvious targets (lower/newer performers, high cost vets, and those caught in the wrong vertical/product/segment) were already let go in October, I don’t think anybody below Director is terribly safe.

As someone who was impacted in October (Raleigh), I’ll also add that now is the time for everyone to get their resumes and job board profiles cleaned up and updated. Line up some recommendations and network with a person or two outside your department...it helps. Fortunately, Q2 is as good a time as any to look, and there are a lot of opportunities in Raleigh for smart, dedicated people at all levels...and Citrix is full of people who fit that criteria.

Obviously, there’s gonna be some troll-age, both here and internally, so take everything with a grain of salt. Amazon to Raleigh is a joke, especially in the time frames we’re talking. HQ2s not coming to Raleigh because mass transit here s---s and Bezos lives in DC. I also love me a Taco Bell Cantina, but they’d be way better off putting it on Hillsborough or Glenwood for the foot traffic lol.

Don’t, for one second, take ELT at their word until proven otherwise. If you have any doubt, go back and listen to the August GEM. I was in the room when DH said “there will be no October layoff event”. I’m sure someone can argue semantics about the actual words used, but the meaning and intent was clear at the time...as was the lie, in hindsight.

However, i wouldn’t subscribe to the theory that management is systematically laying the groundwork to reallocate resources or knowledge based on advance knowledge of a layoff. Again, I was there in October, and I know for a fact that most of my departments leadership were in the dark until the night before...turned out two of them were cut loose too.

If you do get affected, it’s uncomfortable but not the end of the world. Most of the people I know were back on the job long before there was any real financial hardship, because the skills we all gained at Citrix are in demand and valued in the market. I’m a few months into a job that I couldn’t have sniffed prior to my Citrix experience, so while I wish I’d had the chance to write my own ending, I was grateful for the opportunity...and more than a little relieved that it was over.

My contact managing the Wednesday snacks also confirmed the same. Though they have been asked to reduce it by 18.43% for next week. The logic could be that some folks would lose appetite after Tuesday event or get busy here. I will also be leaving the copy of the new contract in 5 star table 2.
