New Layoffs... Consulting is shutting down its doors

Put the information you have under this threat. Under the mismanagement of CD, consulting has been performing terribly. I heard from several resources that it is shutting down.

Dear RniQ5Vw-lsci, we would like to believe that SM is unaware of how Consulting is a liability to Sabre because there is so much politics and Consulting survives on deception and lies. As you mentioned, simple reports and feedback from recent customers and other teams will enlighten SM on how worthless Sabre Consulting is. Hope SM can look through the b---s--- Consulting throws around

If SM starts looking at old consulting projects then he will also wonder how people survived so long in sabre...he should pull all onsite trip reports from BLR and DFW location where so called folks travel to customer site and deliver so called consulting services. Mr SM go & check Facebook profiles of all these consulting guys... some of them mentioned as "I am going to visit next pending 6th continent". And by the time they back to office first 10days they just submit their bills and invoices..and next 15days they plan for next customer site visit in the name of consulting. And remaining days WFH.. :)

Consulting was never given its rightful due even when Sanjay N (SN) used to lead it. Even way back then it was looked as a way to help make a sale rather than run it as it's own profit center. GG never liked SN and backstabbed him, hence it found its way under GG when SN was pushed out. Since then, GG been using it as a way to make up for lack of sales and blaming consulting for all the loss in sales. Never have I seen a business where consulting, which apparently used to make upwards of $40M in annual revenues, find a home under the sales org.

Rumor has it that consulting recommended EY to not invest in AB and AZ but had to change its tune when the old mob bosses (TK, GG, DJ, VD, SB, HJ) realized they could make more money (and their own bonuses) selling promises and crappy solutions to AB and AZ. Only GG and VD are left with Sabre.

There is a systemic problem at Sabre... I see no recovery just downward spiral.

All that SM needs to do is to get details on what has been delivered by consulting on the last few projects and he will be startled to see what crap consulting delivers. Facts don’t lie. It is a miracle (or politics) how Sabre sustains a team which adds zero value to customer and only adds to cost for Sabre and the customer.

Consulting is an integral part of the SWAMP. There is so much toxic politics in Sabre beyond DS’s control. If the leader (I mean SM, NOT DS) were to compare Amadeus consulting with Sabre consulting then he will be put to shame. Consulting is a scam Sabre pulls off on customers. All of the seasoned Sabre customers choose to use third party consulting over Sabre consulting because they know the value. Famous words ‘ Sabre puts a gun to your head’. Sabre will put a gun to your head and force thier consulting services

Funny thing: The Sabre consultants where the ONLY people who understood the entire value of the Sabre offerings/portfolio - across all LOB - how they worked - or didn't - together, and actually knew what the customers wanted and needed.

From a former insider- Sabre Implimentation consulting is probably the only consulting team in consulting industry which actually does not generate any revenue for the company. On the other hand it bloats the implementation budget and provides no value addition to the customer. The product consultants have no product knowledge. If Sabre wants to offer lean implimentation services then the product SMEs can provide the same service with quality far superior than what is currently provided by consulting

HR and Chris D. stay away from this post, we need credible info. Layoff and budget approval have nothing to do. Remember in 2017 Consulting budget was approved, yet 40 people at consulting were laid off at 2017.

Will there be more layoffs before March?

May be.

Why March? VCP.

Consulting lost all its blood at the major layoff, and some more at random firings after it. Hard to run into a soul who knows the business at consulting. There are no major projects and no money paying customers. All they have is paid previous projects, and some new and free work orders/changes.

Consulting lost a few good people last summer but there are plenty of good people left. Tragic if the whole department is shut down. If we want to rebuild trust with our clients, this will not give them any confidence.

Even with CD being completely useless, this seems far fetched

Contracts can be moved to be managed by another team solely for maintenance. Alternatively they can keep just a handful of people to maintain such contracts but it's basically the same as shutting down the entire CD.

This post is ridiculous. There are numerous contracts and obligations that’s in the books to be fulfilled. Sabre can’t just walk away from that. Downsizing is possible but not shutdown.

If CD is at fault, CD should be fired. Why shut down a whole group?

Well nothing surprising - for many years now it is continuously underperforming, since actually it was decided to be integrated within AS ten years ago. All the good guys left, the latest one last summer. What is left are people that cannot perform for many years or fox thinking to provide services like the Majors - but who will get to Sabre instead of Accenture???
