Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Bonuses

Where are all the trolls who either aren't aware that Staples pays bonuses or incorrectly thought SP would reneg on bonuses? Over 100% bonuses are being paid out to all those who are bonus eligible. Even those laid off recently.

Thank you - enterprise was what I was looking for, but I couldn't remember what they called it.

Enterprise is for those that support both NAD and Retail. We get the average of the two bonuses. That was 122%.

By enterprise I assume you mean NAD, no NAD don’t receive 122%. (I wish it was 122%!)We only are receiving 80% of bonus. See post below. The last time we received 122% of bonus was 2015. I’m not privy to retail’s bonus, but by the last message I received in Q3 they were on target for 105% of bonus, that may have changed significantly with Q4 results.

@RZ3KdQb-2cmt - not wishing ill to my friends at all! I just know a shipping ship when I see one - worked for the company for over 20 years - was a great company to work for, but in the last 5 years it has become one of the worst. You must be one of those that thinks the company is going to do better? Wake up... It's not going to happen. They don't care about you, you are just a number. I hate to see what is happening there. I hear what is happening from my friends and it's really sad. Sorry that you think I wish ill on everyone, because I don't.

This used to infuriate me to no end when I was at Staples! That is all they ever talk about is bonuses! What about the people that don't get them? Lets talk about bonuses during weekly meetings (with people that DON'T get them). Guess what? Pretty soon there will be no jobs left. They are slowly getting rid of everyone. And if you think for one minute that they are trying to transform the business you have a surprise coming. They are selling corporate - and will "lease" the space that they need, if they even need any! I don't miss this company. Greed can be a terrible thing, can't it?

Here is the email, "MR DOESNT FIT THE NARRATIVE"

The following is a message to all Associates eligible for the North America Delivery Annual Performance Award (APA) in FY17

Congratulations!

On behalf of Sycamore Partners and the SLT, we are delighted to inform you that Staples’ Board of Directors has approved payment of the 2017 Annual Performance Award (APA).

Overall, NAD beat their earnings budget for the first time in many years, although we did fall short of our revenue target. In addition, we took many significant steps to position ourselves well for future growth. We would like to thank you for all your hard work and contributions in 2017.

2017 NAD Bonus Details:

Plan 1H Payout 76% 2H Payout 82% FY17 Payout 80%

North American Delivery (NAD)

You will receive an additional communication mid-March to confirm your actual individual 2017 APA payment amount. Bonus payments will be made by direct deposit on Friday, March 23 and will be available in the “View Paycheck” section of Associate Connection Monday, March 26.

If you have any questions about your APA, please contact Dustin Gillis, Sr. Mgr Comp & Benefit Systems, at 508.253.8121 or Dustin.Gillis@staples.com.

Looking forward, we are excited about the changes already underway to ensure we deliver our 2018 Plans. We have a tremendous opportunity to be a part of something very special as we continue to transform the business and grow over the coming years. When the business succeeds, so will we all. Communications detailing the 2018 bonus program, now solely dependent on us delivering our EBITDA growth targets, will follow later in March. We are already feeling confident in our shared ability to achieve these targets.

In the meantime, let’s work effectively together to ensure we start this significant year in a positive and assertive manor. We all feel very inspired about the future of our company and look forward to creating a new and exciting growth platform.

Thank you for all that you do!

This bonus stuff doesn't fit the narrative. You must be lying management spewing propaganda.

NAD bonus achieved an aggregate of 1st/2nd half’s of 2017 of 80%.

So if you bonus is 10% of salary you will receive on March 23rd 80% of 10% or 8%, if your bonus level is 15% of salary you will receive 12%.

When and how much? Our severance agreements specifically said "IF bonuses are paid", and I've been unable to get further information. (I actually asked today, since I was expecting a February announcement.) I don't have any reason to believe they won't be paid, but you seem to have information on amount and timing you could share.
