Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

So what if the company bankrupts

It'll be Chapter 11 and will be business as usual for most employees until it can come out of it.

For those of you who think bankruptcy in the corporate world means doors closed and no more company you are sadly mistaken. Chapter 7 may occur in the future but it will be the far flung future after Chapter 11 restructuring and protections etc.

Avaya was Chapter 11 bankrupt and is about to come out by end of year projected so that does not mean end of world.

"In another post "someone" said, the "Millenials will fix it." Considering most Millenials, are not staying on average, more than 2 years, in any position, always looking for the next one, what kind of loyalty, or for that matter, tribal knowledge will Windstream gain from them? Oh wait, you had that and let most of the ones with the "Tribal Knowledge" go."

Its not the millennials fault. Its commonly taught to hop jobs every 3 years and for good reason in today's world. Mainly its the only way to get a decent raise as most companies have caps on raises (Windstream's is 8%). There just isn't any upward mobility. Get experience up your resume and go to another job and get a 30k pay raise. That's the way of the world.

To the person who placed the comment about leaving the dump after 10 years...you have nailed it. After close to 30 years working for this Company the last 5 to 7 years have been extremely tiring...I really tried to hang in there hoping and praying the upper and middle management teams would turn this company around, needless to say I too have decided to put my hat up to this company. I love my co-workers and use to have so much pride in being able to provide the best customer service not only to external customers but also the internal customers. After the latest layoff one manager said to me and I quote “I think the employees are just giving up”...how sad! The management teams need to grow some kahunas and speak up instead of trying to accept unrealistic commitments on behalf of their employees. I refuse to work for a CEO who does not show any respect to their employees...I still cannot believe this man has a job and he is way over valued. He should be ashamed of himself and what he has done to this once flourishing company...so so sad!

I've been working for this place for over 10 years. We were bought by Windstream in 2010. Since then, our company has gone to "sh--". Has gotten worse over & over each year. Every time we've had a layoff it has caused more pain and grief for our business. This last riff was it for me. I am going to leave this dump after the first of the year. Windstream has no clue how to run this business at the level above the individual contributors. They do not understand that we run the company.....not the other way around. Middle management is very lost and insignificant other than treating people like we just got out of college.

I have over 18 years experience and "zero" respect from this company. You just don't approach people with an attitude after a mass layoff, cram training down our throats, have a Nextgen mss blackout period while acting like nothing happened to those 900-1300 comrads that just got walked out the door. All while at the end of each year in telecom, people like to settle down during the holidays and take some time off. What a joke!! It's real simple:. They need sales and stop the bleeding. It's too late people! Management has been their problem the past 5 years I've seen more managers fly around to meetings that they bring no value to and talk big but nothing is getting done other than blowing expenses like we grow customers and deals off trees. Now we are hemorrhaging to the point that the new saviors- Layne Levine and team needs to save the day, and quick! Big hat with no cattle!!!! These guys are up a creek without a paddle. All they knew to do was to lay people off just causing more damage than they could afford. It will be an easy sell on the other side so good luck with the suffering, it's not gonna get any better.

What I think is the funniest, i'm watching 'Mad Money' in the background, I remember when they had Jeff, on there all the time, he was the sweetheart, of the show. Then came Tony in his tracksuit, announcing Jeff had decided to "pursue other interests" and Windstream has basically tanked ever since. Coincidence? Tony, like Jeff, has a golden parachute, Jeff is already leading another profitable company. Tony, is driving this one into the ground.

If the stock completely tanks, which is likely, no form of Bankruptcy is going to save Windstream. All one has to do, is look at any form of social media, and how much customers loathe this company. Millennial's, among them. There is no saving Windstream...
