Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

No more working from home

So no more working from home, guess we'll all be coming in to Southlake with the flu this year. Absolutely ridiculous.

Working from makes sense. With our soft phones, IM and everything else, it doesn't matter if your are at your desk on the 5th floor or sitting in a corner on the 2nd floor. When someone is WFH, don't forget, there are lunch breaks, bathroom breaks, telephone conversations, and other things, just like those in the office. How many times have you IM'd someone at the office and they take forever to respond? If a person is not doing their job, in the office or WFH, then it has to be dealt with by their manager. There is not a one-size-fits-all policy. Most people work longer hours from home and they are usually happier and more productive because they have a better work-life balance. And dont forget, just because someone comes into the office every day doesn't mean they are working. I know 3 people in my area that spend more time shopping and facebooking more than anything and they are there everyday.

The only WFH not suggested is Friday because no one would come to the office.that is the truth. Chris W has a no WFH policy as did his previous SVP.

Inspiration? Not true. Passive Aggressive. True. She has made it clear to her direct reports about HER WFH policy and the origins of the "directive". Or maybe she's just making this up to look good with the C-suite. Either way, we can't work from home on certain days. That's been made very clear.

Pathetic lies, I work on Jan A’s team and there is no such policy against WFH and never has been. She leads by inspiration, not intimidation.

@QkvWGTq-2cqg Maybe if you had any qualifications, we wouldn’t have to steal from you. Just saying

Keep in mind its leaders like the crappy Jan A. that are telling people the no WFH policy is coming from Sean. Its so much easier for any manager to come up with a "rule" and then "blame" it on people higher up.

If there is a policy change it will be made formal and you will officially know about it. While Sabre leaves this up to it's managers they need to know there are some very, very, bad managers who misuse this as a power play. Ask SVP Jan A.

You guys are idiots. I come on here every once in a while to see what kind of nonsense is being propagated and to see if anything is actually leaking from our leadership meetings, and it never does.

Stop wasting your time coming to this ridiculous site. "LAYOFFS TOMORROW!" "LAYOFFS NEXT WEEK!" "NEW POLICY!" None of it is true.

There is no new policy on WFH, this has always been at manager discretion. We have some employees who are FT WFH and are in Southlake a couple times per year, and others who are required to be at their desks at all times during business hours. That's not going to change. And even if there was a change in WFH policy, use your brains and realize that this obviously does not apply to people who are sick. If you are contagiously ill or truly cannot be in the office for a medical reason, your manager will always work with you, regardless of what the WFH policy is. Nobody is going to be okay with a sick employee coming into work.

I doubt there is any official email on this to any specific group, certainly not company wide as I didn’t see any, if anyone is being micro managed then it’s just that individual manager /director is being an a--.

Cry me a river, on MVD almost +75% of the workforce cannot work from home, have to lose around 1:30 every day to get to the office, but yeah, we now have to be sorry for you guys.

Absolutely ridiculous. Just another way that Sabre leadership shows they distrust the employees. If I am required to come in every day, then I will work a straight 8 hour shift. Don't expect me to check my email in the evenings or take any calls.

Sure. No problemo. I will come into the office for every call outside US Central business hours. I won't be working more than 40 hours per week anymore though.

Oh, and that 24x7 on call that I am expected to do..... unless my cubicle can be converted to a home for my wife and kids then you better hire 2 more people to cover the remaining 16 hours each day after my 8 hour shift is over because I'm not living at my cubicle desk for the entire 168 hour week even if I do get the next 3 weeks as time off in lieu.

So when you're supporting the team in BLR and the call is late into the evening - you have to be in the office? During deployments which are in the very early hours of the morning (3 am), you have to be in the office? Either you can or you can't - choose one Sabre, you can't have it both ways.

Interact Delivery and Development...can't work from home anymore. The directors have decided to micromanage everyone. Pretty much before could WFH becuase of all the travel/worldwide calls/ 6am-7am calls but not anymore. Were told to come in no matter what.

What evidence is there of this policy change?

I have seen nothing stating this change.

People abuse policy only if management can't motivate them or if atmosphere in the team is stinky. I knew one manager working for Sabre some time ago who allowed his direct reports to use WFH very liberally and NEVER nobody of them abused his reliance.

That's what happens when people keep abusing the policy.

Because they don't trust their employees that's why. And.... some that worked from home but weren't reachable during business hours ruined for everyone. So instead of dealing with the individuals they apply a "general" rule for everyone. Stinks and EXTREMELY POOR MANAGEMENT (as usual).

we'll all be coming in to Southlake with the flu

it would the most stupid decision. Sick employee working in open space infects other employees and in result many workers are sick and company loses productivity. But... looking at senior leaders in Sabre nobody should be surprized by even more bizzare decisions.
