Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Next round of layoffs

Now that Christmas is over, anybody wants to venture a guess on when the next round of layoffs at Avaya will take place?

I'm going to assume January will be really bad as we move further into the restructuring, I'm just not sure if it's going to happen at the start of the month or a little later on.

I heard santa Clara is now converted to desert. Layoff is going to hit even India now and senior still showing picture of recovered from ch. 11 and we are growing. I think for that only they get paid to lie.

I also heard headcount will reduce to 5K-6K on company payroll. They will hire people on contract for the projects.

For those thinking the European headcount will be hit next maybe you should look up european employment laws, especially in Germany....there is no way those guys are going anywhere without some major payoffs which is cash Avaya doesn't have......

From what I've heard, the rest of the year will be focused on European headcount. Apparently they have basically the same HC as the US, but bringing in half the revenue. The balance is way out of wack.

Some of my German friends have told me about a retirement package being offered in Q2, so likely 100+ people will exit from Germany in the next quarter or two.

A lot of this will be offset with significant hiring in Sales & Cloud plus some folks that could be added from M&A.

Whoever said the plan is to get to 5000HC by the end of FY18 is foolish. That would be over 40% drop in HC in 9 months - impossible.

Odd's are EoFY18, Avaya will have ~7800HC +- 100

They have plans to bring down employee strength to 5K by end of 2018. That's the only way profitability will be maintained alongside payment of remaining debt's.

Instead of building new team under Avaya cloud organization they are planning to buy Fuze and/or Masergy Communications and add it under cloud business unit.

Mid January, SR Management is aware. Sadly, a lot of people will be gone globally. Most in the US. Smoke show is over, everyone thinks Avaya is coming out stronger... That does not happen overnight people, takes YEARS if they are lucky. But keep drinking that cool-aid Avaya believers!
