Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Teradata severance package

The package given by Teradata is a joke... Hope few of the laid off employees get together and go after them... When you look carefully at the list they have gone after people who are older and have been with them longer.. I wish VL had gone after the useless management folks who have done nothing just cut people every six months..

I have seen several posts commenting on how bed the package is, but nobody actually wrote what it is. Any chance somebody is willing to share? In case some of us are next to be shown the door, it'd be good to know what to expect. Thanks!

To the comment on HR violations in Asia. APJ / APAK whatever they are calling it these days - behaviour from various parties in management are disgraceful. They would have to be seen to be believed. The aim is to protect their own lot by managing up and screwing down. Suspect the whole region (or at least Aus) has been saved by the Gov region which has had genuine leadership locally

Like the last response, I was around in the early days until leaving end of 2017 and I was fond of Mike and team. That said, that team also is directly on the hook for bad investments that were either shut down i.e. Hadapt; Kickfire or don’t even start on Aprimo which was a 100’s of million disaster. That coupled with complete denial of open source and cloud is what has Teradata struggling. I don’t disagree on why VL but you cannot ignore Mike and team’s performance in 2014/2015 timeframe which is why they were dismissed.

Teradata used to be an excellent company to work for, but somewhere down the line, they sold their soul (around 2013/2014, I think).

I know because I was there from the start (when they were a division of NCR).

Mike Koehler was the absolute best leader and at one time, the entire leadership team was Killing It! I mean it was like magic in the early days... everyone was happy and proud to be a part of TDat.

Naturally, every up has its downs. Revenue growth declined, bad acquisitions were made, unrealistic expectations were handed down. The end of Camelot. Seasoned leaders departed in a weird choreographed succession. Very sad. Teradata died when Mike left.

If new and innovative people and ideas are what VL and the Board are after, why would they appoint a CEO that is old enough to remember when the light bulb was discovered?

I think the Anonymous poster's comments regarding severance based on job grade is correct (Post ID @PaYF6AV-jtc). Not everyone can expect the same.

Try getting a job when you are over 50 then you will know the pain. The guys on top don't care and for all the training of how to be a good company. It is all a farce.. We have HR violations committed everyday across all the continents. For all the training HR is non existent in Asia. They all roll with whatever the management says. I can't find one case where they have sided with the employee. In Americas it is no different. If you are a senior management person you get to abuse anyone and do whatever you want while the rest of the employees look away. We have so many HR violations on the top management that it is surprising that these guys have their jobs.

try finding a job when you are 50 Plus.. guess what Teradata doesn't have good reputation in the market.. Hardly anyone calls. When you apply for jobs the resumes go into trash. The good Tech companies are looking for young resources with technical background.

I can confirm that 10 years of service will get you 4 weeks. That's 4 weeks of your normal pay and they will pay for what ever vacation you have left.

Teradata seems to be switching from a week for every year of service to a new severance model based upon your job grade. grade 0-8 = 4weeks, 9-10 =6 weeks, 11-12 = 8 weeks, 13 = 12 weeks, 14 = 16 weeks 15+ = 26 weeks.
