Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How is everyone’s stock room looking?

I looked at ours yesterday ( truck day) and it was bulging and with more stuff coming off the truck

The floor is full! And getting a brand of clothing we haven’t carried in over 10 years

Certainly must be redirection of orders from closed stores

And not enough people to push it to the floor

But I spotted 2 warm bodies that could jump in and help out..the store manager and assistant store manager...

On the topic of off-brands taking over, check this out: https://www.thelayoff.com/t/PH6pO3j said "Be on the lookout for Kenmore large appliances - we are looking to transition a lot of Whirlpool, Electrolux or LG-manufactured Kenmore models to Midea and Daewoo." Ew.

The last remnants of the electronics department at my Sears (a couple shelves of small items like memory cards and headphones) have now been completely eliminated, and the floor space is slowly being taken over by appliances. At least the appliances now have some high-tech electronic price tags (like what Kohls uses) - that may be the most high-tech thing left in the whole store. ;-)

@3uas - I saw three copies of TurboTax 2007 on clearance at a Kmart in suburban Kansas City back in 2012. No kidding.

Maybe our kmart store will get some high quality electronics too from eddies blow out liquidation. Element, slyvania tvs. Off brand outdated tablets. Left over ancient Kodak cameras. Vcr tapes of the Titanic and Mrs doubtfire. Playstation 2 systems and game cube. It will all look pretty next to the cheap kenmore appliances and cheaply made mattresses. Nothing is better than going to an electronics section in a store and seeing the up to date items we sell. Maybe there are a bunch of outdated cds as well. They will give the kmart radio network a run for their money since both are stuck in a time warp from the 90s..

Perhaps we shall revive our electronics departments with the greats like genuine Sorny, Panaphonic, and Magnetbox?

Jason Rock - LOL wow, I tried googling for tools with each of the names you mentioned, and didn't find a single one. Maybe you misspelled/misremembered them enough that Google couldn't figure them out, but the closest I could find to any of those brands existing is some knockoff Sharpie markers called 'Skerpie' (presumably unrelated). If those are the accurate names, then that's really really sad.

you are all right this is an internal liquation, filling the stores with extra cloths from already paid for product. Wait till you see the new tools coming into the store we have finally started getting in some drills, and this stuff is such poor quality, not even harbor freight would sell it. This has gone far enough. I hang my head in shame when people ask me what do I think of these new items

Same story in Kmarts. Pallets full of merchandise are being pushed directly to the floor and left to wait until someone has time to work them. Unfortunately of all the people who were hired over the past several months specifically to do stock, we have just about one left, and they're not really very good at it. All the other people who might attempt to work freight, such as the key carriers who are also supposed to actually be working layouts/pricing/data/etc. are too busy doing those other jobs on top of getting stuck on the service desk or having to unload all the trucks, which are now piled up to the point that we have two unworked trailers just sitting off to the side of the building. Apparel is no better. All the fixtures on the floor are overflowing with summer clearance in addition to whatever new stuff we struggle to just get out, let alone actually try to follow the floor plan. With all the tables full of clearance, none of the new tablewear is getting out at all.

It seems like they are clearing out the larger warehouses by shipping everything to the remaining stores.

@rht~ yes once touch IS a complete failure especially when your store doesn’t have enough people to even push it to the floor!

I still don’t understand this:

Mcas now have to run cash registers, push freight, ad set, in addition to all their other duties.. since they have merged with cashiers...

Why do the original cashiers not have to push freight and be cross trained in all the things MCAs do? Especially pushing freight
