If you feel you need to hold onto PTO for fear of an LR, it's time to work elsewhere...

Pro Tip: Always keep that PTO balance maxed-out. When (not if) you get hit by the 'shadow sniper' they have to pay it out to you in cash. At 240 hours max (in USA), that is real money you can add to your package.
Wish they would give the opportunity for voluntary early out like they did years ago. I think the magic number back then was 60 (at least 50yrs old and 10yrs with the company). I can't remember the package but it was a lot better than 3 months pay.
