Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

There's nobody left to cut!

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to this. They say we are trying to save money but when you start getting rid of so many employees in departments, you cannot function! I can't imagine cutting anyone else in my department unless they close it down. Seems like that might be the future.

I agree, @OmypWsJ-8ohm. They have brought us down to bare bones as it is. They lay off people, and just dump their work on whoever is left. This is not working anymore, people are starting to break under pressure. As you said, if they cut anymore people, there is nothing left to do but close some departments. Which are needed for Windstream's overall work, so we'll see how that works out for them.

I love my job there, and I don't want to be cut. There are so many problems that this company has on so many levels. The first are managers. You have managers, who have managers, who have managers. Cut the fat somewhere. Get rid of those management positions. Also, what strikes me as funny is that the positions they need are cut, and the positions they don't, they leave. The one guy who posts stuff all day on stream should have been gone several layoffs ago. He does absolutely nothing. Also, some of the staff there look on amazon and YouTube all day instead of doing their job. I love my job, but something has to give. If I get cut, I don't know what I would do because now I have no backup option.

to the person that posted this.

I agree with most of what you folks are saying. Telecom is a tough business, and unless you're a decision maker all you can do is your best. For those that still want to complain, move up and advance and you make these decisions. Why complain about what someone else is making? If you're good at your job get all they'll pay you. I hope our CEO can lead us out of the red.... if he can't I'll back the next one. Until you've walked in someone's shoes don't judge. We can all be armchair quarterbacks, but how many of these anonymous posters have made tough decisions?

you are an idiot. I know several great people that thought they were moving up the ladder by accepting local manager jobs. well they moved themselves right out the door on the 27th of July. try to better yourself and get sent home. Like I said your an idiot. You will prob be sent home next week.

Windstream has to many people running this company that only know spread sheets. Just because you have a degree doesn't mean you are qualified to run a telecom business. I think they think all you have to do is make a program and hit the enter button and that will fix any problem. They are too arrogant and want listen to the folks who actually do the physical work and who are in physical contact with the customer. They have made so many stupid decisions and when it doesn't work they blame the people who are trying to make there stupid plans work. I don't know how many times I thought there is no way they could ask us to do something any more stupid and the next week they will come up with something worse. We tell the local management and they agree with us but their hands are tied. When your so arrogant that you think you know more than the actual ones that do that work than nothing but failure is in the future. It seems to me common sense has been completely taken out of the picture. Only ones that will come out of this smelling like are rose is the 140 plus V.P s we have making 6 figures a year and make the decisions that have put us in this shape. Is it me or is having 140 V.P s ridiculous or not? But only time will tell how low this will go.

2oKo, I bet you would be dancing to a different tune if it were you that got cut. You tell people to move up and be a decision maker. Easier said than done. Plenty of us have had to make difficult decisions, but yet, you keep praising the CEO.....maybe you are one of the top execs and are anonymously posting on here defending what is being done.

I was a lowly Analyst II and survived 7 of these. I got dropped at the end of Jan and they had the audacity to send me my 5 year anniversary certificate two weeks after I was laid off. That was a gut punch when I walked away from the mailbox.

We have been trying to make somwthing of this company, but they make changes that cause groups to not function properly, so yes, we are complaining about the leaders. You say that all employees, even the CEO, have to make the company profitable. Problem is that if the CEO leaves, or is fires, he can live a lavish life forever while the ones he just kicked to the curb like a bag of trash will struggle to provide for their family. I dont know about you, but I did not make over $4.4 million in 2016 like Tony Thomas.....anyone else?

Too bad to see the continued layoffs. The company struggles to gain a culture and identity and continues to make changes. At some point you must let the changes and org adjustments work. Change for change is no solution. Yes I’ve been on the outside for a bit. Honestly not sure what the organization is known for except layoffs and monthly change. I can tell you all tech companies do not operate this way. My hope is that one day this company will find a consistent way to lead and care for their employees. Best of luck to the survivors.

Not a director, not even close. Been in the phone biz awhile though. My only point is, let's spend less time griping about a CEO or our Boss. Get to work and lets make something of this company.

So I am guessing the last comment was from a clueless director

I made it through, we'll all need luck. Instead of complaining about the CEO and executives how about we get back to work. I can figure out who most of the commenters are, and you're just as overpaid. This is always been how telecom and any tech related industry works. All employees, CEO down to the newest call rep have to make this company profitable.

Being one that got cut after 10 years, those of you that remain, I wish you the best of luck. You will need it.

And he continues to make millions. Seems to me he should be held accountable for the company's down fall. People losing their jobs and he is set for life. It's his decisions that has put us to one of the best managed company's to what it is now. If your cutting employees than your failing the company and its employees who has helped him become a millionaire.

That's OK. Our top leader likes to talk about how we need to do more while he is on vacation with his family in the south of France. I truly believed the board of directors would have ask for his resignation by now. Since he has been at the top of this company it has continued to gain debt and lose stock price!

Crazy how heavy the company is at the top. Way to many in upper management. They are cutting the tree at the root instead at the top. The whole tree will die
