There was much debate on the CBS hire. She was a major bust. Eventually RD pushed to hire her. And at less than 17 the architect of this demise is still going. Unbelievable.

Last poster - have you watched The Toy Box on ABC? It was unwatchable and only kept dropping in ratings after each week. She was behind that.

Did you read about Amy Schumer being given the lead in the Barbie movie? CBS was behind that.

Did you see the failure of Bob the Builder? While she wasn't to blame for it (it was all Sid), she didn't act fast enough to change the distribution (which is why it never gained momentum).

Like so many executives - she moved too slow and did not make a big enough difference. Look, it's a public company and it's valued every 3 months on quarterly performance. If you can't come up with a plan to make things better in 3 months, and show steady, meaningful progress each quarter afterward, then don't come work here! We need professionals who will DO SOMETHING and so far we haven't had any. All we had is big mouths who spout off useless, unintelligible rhetoric and then we let them stay here!

Hey, last poster - it doesn't take a rocket scientist to just look at the numbers and see that the end is near, or are you a designer and just interested in sticking your head in the sand.

It's not fear mongering - it's the truth. Just look at the stock. Did it go up when M-Go announced her re-hashed plan of the future? No. Did it go up when SL, DA, GZ all got fired? No. Care to even contemplate why? It's because where once there was a dominance in "fashion dolls" there is now nothing left except a declining and completely passé Barbie brand. Girls don't even want to change out fashions on a doll anymore - they just want toys of what they feel are interesting stories told to them from a variety of media.

Hasbro has Disney Princesses and Frozen - those numbers are down, too - but the majority of it is stable. But Hasbro now has it for 9 more years and not Mattel. Monster High? Gone. Why? Because it was a trend that we rode on and then over shipped to make up for Barbie's decline. Ever After High? It never happened. Why? Because it wasn't a trend and we pushed it on the consumer who didn't want it.

Fear mongering - I wish it were. But the fact is Mattel is a company that's best days are behind it and the shareholders will not wait even 3 years for a miracle of a turnaround to happen. They will demand their money, force the Board out and sell the company. When defeat is inevitable, put your feet up, relax and stare into the abyss. It's just not that bad on the other side where there's freedom and happiness.

The charter of that group needs to be rewritten from the cover my a$$ mentality to actual learning and leveraging play behavior. Otherwise spare me the charts that you've pulled from someone else's statistical analysis telling us all that tablets and digital is here, we have kids and we all know that. What happened to your prediction on another rainbow loom? I got news for you MS, no KID, and I repeat NO KID likes stem toys when it's next to cool sh!t. So just stop that.

In the meantime this guy seems to have everybody fooled that just because he can pull together past data and point to missed opportunities like some kind of reverse Nostradamus, he is some kind of seer to a future generation.

Margaret is doing what obviously needs to be done. Amazing how fresh eyes can spot the elephants in the room quickly. Chopping at the top is easy, and there is lots more to be done (every VP who's been at Mattel over 10 years, for starters, they steered us into this mess). But before we hail her as the savior of Mattel, we need to see some aggressive positive internal changes. Culture changes, HR changes, people changes. The way Mattel treats people is terrible. Fear runs rampant through the organization. Managers and directors need to fear and respect their employees. Margaret, do NEW 360s on everyone, director and up, and have an outside company review them and make chopping recommendations.

Fascinating that the SL thread was deleted. The rude personal insults are bs but she clearly had issues. What can Management LEARN from this rather than try to sweep it under the carpet? How you treat your employees matters. People leave bad Managers not companies. Look at those Managers with the largest number of people who have resigned under them and sweep the broom in that direction!
