Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Severance

What is the package if an employee is wfr'd? Pay, healthcare, etc? I've heard a couple of variations- I'm in Houston.

Another HPE Gotcha - if you are Medicare age, then Cobra medical I was told does not cover primary care - they force you get Medicate Part A and Part B but it takes weeks to even get started. When I did Cobra before I never had to go through the company itself to get Cobra - I went via the Government and paid them to continue. I never heard of such a thing I can only get Cobra insurance through the company who laid me off. Does not make sense and then they are forcing you to get the Medicare option but they will take your money for Cobra Medical and say then they will not cover primary. Currently I am not covered by Medical Insurance since June 16th. Thanks HPE, I will never forget this since they did not tell Medicare age people they off this important fact -found out the hard way. Per Cobra I called said this does not sound right to them. You pay the premium $$$$$$ and they should cover your medical no matter what. :-(

I was part of the May 12th class of layoffs. You lose your benefits on your final day. You can have cobra, but it costs a ton. I am still waiting for my second and and third check from HPE. My first one with the 11 weeks was taxed 33%.

: @NPvRx5e-2zid, to ensure we are comparing apples to apples so to speak. It depends if you are in NA or outside of NA.

Let's take it as a case scenario in NAaa in USA specifically.

DXC was formed as a result of HPE and CSC. Hope we are in agreement so far. The WFR's pre DXC merge for HPE was more generous. Post DXC was drastically reduced. Now, the remaining "HP" (outside of DXC) may be subject to whatever T&C as it currently stands. Do not count on it being set in concert. The top is always working on "tricks" to cut the severence to the bones.

I understand it's unsettling time when your job security ( if there is one anywhere) is at stake and your family safety net is being pulled out from under you. The top has control of your $$ destiny if you seat and wait.. actively seeking other opportunitues... it's hard never easy... all the best!!

You have DXC people in here giving DXC severance info, and it may be different. This is the HPE thread. Are you HPE or DXC? That matters, I believe.

1dpa, you stated "As a bonus, quitting DXC on your own terms means the door is still open - not that anybody sane would walk back into it, but it is a symbolic victory not to get blacklisted.". I do not know what fact you based on to make such a statement? While I agreed the need to pursue other employment opportunities, the implied statement of freeing oneself from being "blacklisted" is the least of priority/concern at the present DXC's climate. Do you honestly believe anyone would be worrying about being "blacklisted"? Get all you can from DXC and bail out if you have a job offer..

who else is anxiously awaiting tomorrow's massive WFR? Will we or won't we be on the list? I think my whole team nationwide is donezo along with many others. Shockingly, not all middle management is getting the boot despite making much more than us in the field.

11 weeks pay plus 2 days pay for every year you worked beyond 11 years. Cobra means you pay the full premium to continue. Dont worry about job gaps. Most people's resumes look like swiss cheese these days.

According to the post in the other thread, US severance is capped at 6 weeks (if you have 15 or more years of service).

DXC is just another tool invented to hose HPE employees. Don't wait for notice to find employment elsewhere, because even with severance pay, COBRA will s--- away your money and you'll have a nice blank spot on your resume - prospective employees tend to throw up red flags when they see that.

As a bonus, quitting DXC on your own terms means the door is still open - not that anybody sane would walk back into it, but it is a symbolic victory not to get blacklisted.

As a further going-away present, you will be forever "blacklisted" from further employment with HPE (not even as a contractor). And then Meg and the HPE PAC will go and whine and cry up a storm in Washington, D.C., and with the Trumpster, that they need more H-1B allotments, because... Well, because they just can NOT find ANYONE here native to the USA, who is willing and able to perform those jobs!

My understanding, depending on service time, max 16 weeks. If you use vacation unearned, you pay it back out of severance. Healthcare...on your own brother. Cobra will be offered but very expensive. You'll have a period of time to roll your 401K....forget the match for the year if you get layed off before Dec. 31st.
