My understanding is they closed the Bloomingdale, Ill. Kmart (across from Stratford Square mall) ... I thought that was one of our better Kmarts, Every time I went in there it seemed busy. If they shut down the Woodfield mall Sears in Schaumburg Ill or Six Corners Sears in Chicago, then I know it's the end for sure. Those stores are icons and have been around for decades. Same for Harlem av & North in Chicago... store there was open in the late 1940's.

So thankyou to everyone. Even though I left this horrible company I still try to keep up with the changes that happen.

Guys, the media has already has already jumped on this list. USA Today and Business Insider posted this list and cited an employee message board.

I wonder how SHC will react to this "leaked" store closing list.

Most of the liquidations are 12 weeks long, but occasionally the do faster 8 week ones. It appears most of the closings on this list are early September.

I went through one 3 years ago in 2014 . I just could not remember exactly when it would start. I remember it was an 80 day/8 week sale.

If the liquidation starts next week or the week after next?

So I am guessing the vacate date for everyone will be the first or second week of September is my guess.

Or am I completely wrong?

The liquidation will mostly likely start in a week or so. The liquidation usually last for 12 weeks or less. My store in Oklahoma got the word on the 27th of December, and liquidation start on the 6th of Jan,and we closed on the 26th of March. Keep your heads up Sears and Kmart associates, and work plenty of overtime if you can, and save money, and pay off any debt. Severance is up to 8 weeks for full-time, use your personal holidays, and vacations.

Fairly large number of stores closing. Yet, many of these, more than likely, were stores that were not doing well. It's unfortunate for people who work at those locations that they have to start scrambling to look for new jobs. But that's how it is. I keep wondering when the four Sears store here in Pittsburgh, PA will close up or which will be first.

@pjg if they are closing in July, they will start to liquidate in June

Too little, too late. Should have started closing unprofitable stores much much sooner.

The Chico, CA store is no surprise. Honestly I have no idea how it lasted this long! They closed the auto center in may (which was actually busy). Now the nearest sears store is 70 plus miles away. I'm surprised the two Kmart's in the area are not gone yet.

That store count might actually be lower as the closings announced in May weren't taken into account... 556 for KMart (Down from 2200 peak?) and 623 for Sears.

Sears #1150 is the only remaining store still open at the dead Westland Mall in Columbus, Ohio.

Sears #1370 is the only anchor store still open at the dying Eastland Mall in Columbus. (They've already lost Lazarus, JC Penney, and most recently Macy's.)

Has a "Canned" press release on these store closures been issued yet by "Howard Reifs"?

I live in Charleston SC. With Kmart 3606 closing that means no more Kmart Stores in Charleston SC at all.

Well that would take the KMart store count down to 574 and Sears to 635.
