It is expected, they need to get rid of people before the end of the quarter. So, the fruits of the performance reviews are showing up, at last.
People affected will get an extra 3 months pay.

Yes, @etr - It really feels like this:
they want an injection of 'hip' and they are trying to create a new IBM.
They will go after older employees first for sure, especially if you work from home. That is if you have not already been asked to move to a lab location or leave. This is of course so they can save money and hire college hires with the 'skills' IBM needs to move into the future. BS - We have the skills here. They want more than skills, they want an injection of 'hip' and they are trying to create a new IBM. Worry especially if your approaching 15-20 years in. Look out for #1 cause IBM sure won't.
I'm hearing the numbers are small compared to prior actions.
I haven't been affected, but I hear that GTS Sales will be hit, also S&D - probably even harder. Anyhow, they will be looking at performance ratings when making the decision on who to cut (hmmm, any high performers left?) and once cut, you'll get 90 days an option to transfer if you can find something where you may be a fit (don't bother with this, you will find nothing)
