Thread regarding Sears layoffs

@3bis, first off I agree "Cathy" is a corporate troll full of BS.

Secondly I agree on the leasing. It is unethical. The company "Why Not Lease It" is a scam operation look at all of the complaints online.

Finally the Sears credit card is a toss up. Yes the interest rate is high.

I am speaking from experience on this issue.

If you say spend $300 and it is 12 months interest free financing that is a better than leasing 12/300 equals an approximate payment of $25 a month.

So yes the Sears credit card offer is better than the leasing.

I was trying to explain the pros/cons of the leasing vs credit card.

Leasing is a terrible deal for the consumer. It's predatory.

It's take advantage of the poor.

SYW and the credit card are two different things. A frequent Sears shopper likes SYW. The credit card offers no real value. Just a high interest rate.

She never signed up for a sears card because it was never explained properly to her. Many people are not enthusiastic about selling the syw. It's no wonder you people can't meet your metrics.

He was a Vietnam War vet according to his hat, and leasing a TV is a great deal for the right person. Have you ever bought something and wished you could try it out first? Well leasing is a great deal for you.

You leased someone a TV and you feel good about that? That's the very definition of shyster.

How do you know he was a war veteran? Was he dressed in fatigues, or carrying a rifle? And which war? Was he dressed in blue or gray, with a shaggy beard? (That, btw, is our main customer these days). Otherwise, how do you know?

And for the mother with her not so little son, why did it take you so long to sign her up for a credit card? I can understand that she would shop so seldom that she wouldn't have signed up for SYW. But the craptastic credit card has been around for more decades than most of us. So again, why did she just have to sign up now?

Good job. I wish I could do all those things. But the reality is that if I could then a register would not work to ring up the sale, the ipad would crash or be broken, the PA or warrenty which is fulfilled by a third party would be a hassle for the customer, the delivery on the dishwasher would have been messed up and the instalation of the dishwasher would have been done wrong. I would not have any time to sign anyone up for SYW or a credit card because I have to email my DM every hour to give him the numbers on the SYW and creidt card sign ups and then I have to have an hour conference call every day to get told what a horrible job we are doing. And to top it all off we have shelves that are bare and roofs that leak and shelves that are falling apart that I need to fix. Wish I worked in your fantasy land of a store.

I doubt the street cares about how the employees feel. The stock just a bump after a major decline. It will do the same thing over and over, all the way until bankruptcy. Then, the stock will be worth zero, regardless of how positive the employees feel.

I don't care if its fake or not, it's a well written post. Sarcasm? Yeah, to an extent, still a very inspiring and well written post. The fact is, the stock price went up 3% after the Street heard how positive we feel about OUR company.

The news media has really taken the latest news and sensationalized it. Sears is still open for business folks and I had a great day at work.

My day started out early and it was a b--chilly, but it turned out to be a sunshine filled day outside AND inside the store.

I helped a war veteran buy a dishwasher, a guy buy jewelry for his love, and a mom buy some clothes for her little boy who isn't so little anymore. She had been buying his clothes at sears since he was a baby and she said she will continue to do so. I even signed her up for a charge and a SYW.

That was my morning, this afternoon I worked a lease deal on a TV, sold a washer and dryer and on it went.

The members who bought these items all had one thing in common, they are loyal. They have a bit of sears running thru their veins. They come in and find great comfort in knowing that sears has been and will continue to be there for them.

We get the member what they need by any means necessary. This is one mess that cannot be fixed with our trusty old craftsman wrench, but it can be fixed with a smile, positive attitude and continuing to help our members. They count on us.

Some stores are do profitable they will never go anywhere. Sadly some may have to close, but the majority are not going anywhere.

They are tried and true, Sears blue!

Don't let this crazy media get to you folks. They are usually wrong anyway.

I am so eager thinking about the opportunity that awaits Me on my shift tomorrow. Positivity breeds positivity. Let us not forget that.

Not sure how it is at Sears, but at Kmart it would not at all be uncommon for someone to end up at the service desk, layaway, putting freight out on the floor in multiple departments, receiving vendor deliveries because the backroom part timer is only there until noon, doing some office paperwork, and then helping to unload the warehouse truck, all in the same day.

Bopping around all the departments are you? You have the jewelry security clearance, you know tools, trained in appliances & work the central register too?

Plus you got someone to use that dumb lease? After opening a credit card for someone else?

Yo do realize those are all very different departments. With different schedules and different managers? No a realistic day. You made this up.

Anything positive about Sears is FAKE NEWS! Game over...

Even if this post is fake which I'm assuming it is (there has been an uptick of late on this site of similarly constructed posts, the company has obviously engaged in a positivity propaganda campaign) it's a message that offsets the typical doom and gloom here. It's a message that could help folk at Sears which during these depressing times cannot be a bad thing - so OP, I sense your post is one big lie but I do appreciate the intent and trying to encourage those of us still working here.

On a more serious note... yes some stores are profitable, but a lot of that is due to economies of scale, being able to purchase for 1000 stores lowers the price, having a DC to consolidate shipping to stores, having large enough contracts to keep our vendors shipping complete and on time... without these things the overhead blows up, and we become a mom and pop, and Walmart eats mom and pops for breakfast. Also being profitable doesn't save your store, there were stores in Cali that the land they were on was worth more than the profit from the store... so boop, away it went, for a quick cash in.

Of course there are loyal Sears shoppers. But if you think there are enough of them to keep the boat from sinking, you're not paying attention.

How did the lady who bought her sons clothes at sears for years just become a SYW member today
