Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

More High Priced Help Hired by State Street

Looks like another year of no raises or bonuses. 2 more examples yesterday of SS overpaying for high priced executives near the end of their career.

The company continues to block advancement of its internal staff yet goes outside to hire. Shameful.

My greatest regret and dumbest decisions that was to join SS right out of school. Despite working very hard and doing a very good job I am stuck with no chance for promotion and no salary increase potential.

Thanks Jay

I agree. I am not wealthy. I am getting by okay but not in a position to pay for an MBA. Many of my SS co-workers are in the same position. That's why we are so scared. Our only choice is to believe that our CEO Jay hooley will not abandon us. That in the end he will grow the company so that we have a place in it. So my family (wife and one little boy) are cared for. I trust in Jay Hooley because I have no other choice.

I get that an MBA is a dime a dozen. Most who have an MBA also continue to keep studying if it is possible. Many with MBA degrees also have a CPA, CFA or even a law degree which makes them more marketable. Many of us aren't wealthy but just trying to survive like everyone else.

@My advice

Before you waste money taking courses the 1st thing you have to do is find a job with limited

chance of being outsourced outside the U.S

MBA a now a dime a dozen between the thousands of college graduates with them, and the due

to the Internet the ability to outsource the job.

Thank-you for your reply to my question. Many good suggestions and I have been at SS long enough to know what you say is true. Thanks again?

My advice to you is to leave State Street ASAP. I don't know your age but you are probably fairly young. I can't complain since I had a long career with State Street and only lost my job because of the salary that I was earning. Eventually, everyone either leaves State Street or gets laid off.

Unfortunately, it isn't only State Street but many of the other similar financial institutions that continue to send jobs overseas or to one of their other global sites.

The only suggestion is that you either get your MBA and/or get additional education and training such as taking the series exams. Also taking additional computer courses or training as a computer engineer is also a good idea.

Although, I do agree that Jay has to go !
