Thread regarding Wal-Mart Stores Inc. layoffs

More Layoffs coming at Walmart and Sams Club

The layoffs are coming in multiple phases. The next phase will include more office positions being laid off, personnel managers, receiving associates, etc... if you sit at a desk, high chance your job gets eliminated, front end salaried managers at will be taking over a lot of the personnel duties at sams, academy managers will be taking over lots of the task at walmart. All salaried managers will all be getting more task added to their routines from hourly jobs being eliminated. Store managers will get assigned multiple task that are currently market manager task, as more cuts will also be made at the market and regional level. It is still being decided how many salaried managers including co managers, APMS and Assistant managers will be cut. Good luck to you all!

Well, here it is Friday and I haven't seen any positions eliminated yet....so it must be just B'S rumors that are flying around.

My advice to all, use all your PTO, all hours in those so called buckets they set up last year. This was a set up for us not to use. You don't get to use your personal hours once they terminate your position. i am so sad to see this happen to our most dedicated and hard working associates. All of these young, (lean) new hires have no sense of urgency, nor do they care about member service. Good luck to all, and remember, there is life after Sam's.

My club has a Truckload associate. That seems like a position an assistant manager could do. It is only busy about 3 months of the year.

I am sure there is no inside source if u know the company well enough u know who ever has info has to sign paperwork stating they will not leak info due to not getting riots and unions started .I am sure there will be changes but let's hope for the best.

It funny how people talk about an inside source but they won't mention who that inside source is. It's not like they are going to know who you are when you sign "annonomus " .So who is your inside source??????

Even though the freight comes in and straight to the floor someone has to unload it and check it in.

Does your inside source say receiving lead gone and receiving clerk?

by

Post ID: @7qzh+MDk5xNF

That is untrue alot of people knew about audits before it happen also most of the stuff every one is saying it has Been confirm by a inside source.

All this chatter is speculation, but there is ample reason to speculate. From new procedures at the entrance/exit doors, to freight coming in to the Club and going straight out to the floor, one can conclude that there is more change on the horizon. And likely there is.

However, the Market Manager in our Club was informed of the cuts last week on Monday (that's what he said), only a day before the announcement was made. So any "news" of more layoffs is unsubstantiated. Beware of "fake news" and "alternative facts." We will simply have to wait and see...and that is unpleasant, to say the least.

The days of office jobs at Sam's Club are coming to an end. The entire focus is solely on member facing areas and the cuts that are being made reflect that. If you are in an office job, your position is in jeopardy.

Who are those spreading these rumors? Are you at the store/club level or above in management? We lost our audit team at Sam's last week like everyone else but no one heard of any more job cuts. In fact, our GM said the receiving clerk and claims will be helping out with audit duties along with area team leaders. Yet, people on here talk about the clerk and claims being eliminated. Should I chalk all this up as "fake news?"

A stricter grooming standard as well. the ppl at the last store I worked at before leaving wfm couldn't look professional to save their lives. And I don't mean business professional, I understand this is grocery retail lol - but these guys looked straight homeless.

Cashiers and MSS will be trimmed soon as most clubs will now transition to convertable registers that can be turned into self check outs. The push for adoption rate on scan and go will be increased to 25% by Q3. Displaced associates in the upcoming cuts will be offered jobs in the floor for member service or in the planned increased focus on member order specialists. All office and desk jobs will be gone by August.

At that point anyone who is displaced will be offtered seasonal help through January 5th , 2018.

Look for 2018 to be a big year for store closures or conversions to a smaller delivery and pick up order based focus clubs. Especially if you live in a metro area with more than one club in 30-50 mile radius you can plan on one either closing or becoming pilot clubs for the delivery model.

A lot of clubs don't even have comp shoppers or jewelry leads. Those are definitely jobs on borrowed time. Even bringing them up here is a risk since it just brings exposure to the execs that some clubs still employ them.

I'm a 28 year Sams associate who lost my job or got displaced yesterday. Sounds like they are getting it lean close or sell. Amazon is starting up brick and mortar stores.

I would say the outside sales team of the membership TL and coordinator will be eliminated. Everything has gone to digital marketing and groupon type deals. Salespro was a failure and business to business selling is a thing of the past.

Membership? You mean the membership TL and outside sales rep? What about the comp shopper?

most of this is accurate information, accounting will not be completely let go until all the new cash counting machines are in place, membership will not be cut until they complete the transformation of transitioning it to a third party operation. Look for back office associate and jewelry lead to be cut very soon, Personel manager may be cancelled and made a part time position when brought back.

Jewelry lead, membership, back office, cash office, personnel manager will all be losing their jobs. This phase of layoffs will continue thru April 14th, the next phase of layoffs will come later in the year.

Happy Anniversary :( I started with Sams Wholesale Clubs 31 years ago today. Now I wait to see if tomorrow or the next day or next if I will still have a job. I work as a receiving dock associate and can only take it hour by hour. I will get up every day and go to work until they tell me to hand in my badge. I wonder what Mr. Sam is thinking up in Heaven right now about what his company has come to. So much for respect for the individual.

I don't have any inside knowledge but I would imagine receiving clerk, accounting lead, personnel coordinator and the membership office are all positions that could be eliminated at anytime. I would also imagine the APM will be eliminated and the membership manager will become a second floor manager with front end manager picking up compliance/personnel. With the emphasis on Scan & Go, some cashiers could be eliminated also. Just an opinion though.
