SMG is just terrible under Pearson's leadership. Hiring on one end while firing on the other. Last year was classic - they got rid of all their transition change management talent and then proceeded to declare it a "strategic gap". Further, much of the new talent they brought in didn't hang around long enough to contribute :(

@1yrd - fully agreed; this is just the SMG thread. SMG has its own history of dysfunctionality, and deserves a separate treatise.

you would be naive if you think the reduction is limited to SMG. Cuts will happen to every group covertly at a different time frame so you don't end up reading about it in the news or alarm the investors. this is why the management can continue to say "no ACT" with a straight face.

So, that means SMG will spend two full consecutive years re-organizing.

We are being asked not to talk about it yet. Not everyone who is going to be asked to leave has been notified. No idea yet what areas will be impacted, but it does appear to be less severe than last year in SMG.

Did you wake up OP after he announced it?

Did he announce that while wearing one of those hopelessly goofy sweaters over an even more hopelessly out-of-date plaid shirt?
