Thread regarding Altice USA (Cablevision) layoffs

The time is now

Time for the other shops to get onboard .This company spares no expense to intimidate employees and bribe moles to keep employees in the dark and without a voice , but still guys saw thru the fog , Now its time for everyone else to jump on the train. The Dolans sold everyone out after spending years intimidating employees to keep out the union.Knowing that this would only benefit him and the stock.Well stop listening to company lies. The time is now.

Someone posted this yesterday, I agree, at least with "the time is now" part.

We are onboard with Oakland we aren't gonna let ATS run us over we have had enough we started handing out signature cards today to vote to let the IBEW represent us. I truely believe we all need to get together on this before Altice runs us over more than they already have. Find your local IBEW office and get something rolling for your depot!!

Has anyone asked the union about the solvency of their pension plan? Have you asked about their finances? Have you seen any of their recent contracts they've negotiated? How about first contracts for the last orgs that voted in the union? You all say Altice is promising nothing, but what research have you done on the union. You all just jump in with the first girl that asks you out. Sorry, but I'm not betting my career on the word of a bunch of guys who talk about wolves and sheep and "big business" and brotherhood. How old are you? Joining a union is signing a contract with them. Voting yes was putting your name on a blank contract. The only guarantee is your dues. You do realize that the first thing the union negotiates is dues, right? I'm sure you asked them that when you all sat down to discuss who was going to do the negotiating and what their background was. Do any of you honestly know anything that wasn't told to you by the union organizers? I doubt it. And don't lie to yourself. Most of you just made an emotional decision. That's not how you do business. Good luck and hopefully getting out of a union is as easy as getting in one. (Guess what? It isn't)

@ Champstamp how assasinine are you really. How well you support and speak up for this foriegn company here in America. Your doing fear mongering on how we are going to have very hard times and how they could retaliate against us and get away with it. Moron, You are not trying to congratulate, neither encouraging us in organizing to protect ourselves from the many things that we have lost so far within 8 months since Altice bought the company. Tell us how, being under Altice has benefited us the employees so far. Tell us what have we gained since they took over. Name them. You can't can you. You cannot name any right, you traitor, you Rat bastard. Moron If you are not encouraging us you are not for us, you are Instead here to cause division and fear mongering in your many pro company statements, what they can do to to make working here hard for us. It is already and this is why we have voted in the union to help to protect what's left of our employment. EVERY DEPO you need to protect whatever you have now by voting to have the union now, before they start taking away more and more of what you already have. Support each other and REPRESENT, fight for each other. You're a SOLDIER, DONT LEAVE ANY DEPO BEHIND. In unity You're an AMERICAN, NOT FRENCH. You are a hard working STAR SPANGLED, RED, BLUE AND WHITE BLOODED AMERICAN, AN OPTIMUM AMERICAN WORKER. Never sell yourselves short protect yourselves from Altice greed VOTE YES, WE ALL NEED THE UNION NOW, NOW, NOW. CALL AND VOTE IN THE UNION NOW

I would have to agree with post Post ID: @M6uGdNu-qxg. However, I would have left out the bashing and belittling name calling. Just because 49 people lack a certain level of intellectual foresight, that does not make them morons, it just makes them ignorant. Ignorant because they really have NO idea on what lays ahead. Here are some words to think about as you go about your day-negotiations-Majority Rules-impasse-arbitration-mediation-strike-IBEW By Laws-Sympathy Strike! Also, how long are you willing to wait to vote on a contract? That is assume an agreement is meet. Months, years? Thanks for nothing. Good Luck!

Altice hasn't shown anything concrete & if the other remaining shops go union, now your talking numbers. It's all about strength in numbers & Oakland just set it off & set the standard. If the other shops remain sheeps then yes I agree it will be an up hill fight. Someone has to man up & Oakland just did that

I agree. If Oakland wants everyone on board then show us something concrete. This is just the beginning. I want you guys to do well but I just don't think you will. When do contract talks start?

Listen I never said the company has your best interest idiot. Read my post. I said your fight is far from over. I actually want you to win and set the standard for other depots to follow. But if your too stupid to understand the grand scheme of things let me school you a bit.

I never said anything you stated in your rambling Assasinine post number one. Number two you can't lose anything else at this time yes it's frozen. But guess what they not just going to give you what you want either. Period. They have every legal right to fight and deny any and all upgraded request from what you currently have which can and will lead to arbitration and and a long drawn out fight. And you will be in for a long fight period. Like all contract negotiations it's going to be about attrition. Your small depot doesn't have the power to stop work even if you strike. Altice can and will use contractors it's their legal right to do so. Your depot is in for a long uphill climb. Maybe you can't face facts. A union can't tell a company how to conduct business they can only protect you from unfair labor infractions by a company.

Your Union is only as strong as you and your peers. IBEW are your reps they got your back with the law regulations the rest is up to you. Don't want the "me too" clause? Well guess what after three years without a contract maybe you won't have a choice.

You morons seem to think the battle is won and the rest is easy street. I get it your feeling c---y now that's cool. But when the reality of your situation smacks you in your stupid face we'll see how strong your unity really is.

@ Champstamp. You are definately managements hyena trying to dissuade the Optimum American Workers that a foriegn National comany has their best interest. No they don't, they do not, not in a long shot. Bottom line is saving and making themselves, the company and the 17.7 Billion bonds and stock holders their profits PERIOD. So from now on shut the hell up about what the company can do to Oakland. Any steps from the CEO, you or any other management or zomble technicians who dare try to undermine the unity of American workers. Not only do we Oakland have the support of the Union body, the PSC, The NLRB and our President Of the United States of America who believes in putting the american workers first. Try us now, we know who also supports us in Washington. And No we will never ever sign a me too clause you mindless selling out of the American worker. Everything we have right now is frozen as is, you imbecile. They cannot decrease anything that we have at this point or changee how they administer how we function from this point on. If they want to change something. Come sit at the table and negotiate, talk with us. That is the only way. Individuals like you and anyone else who voted no for the union would sell themselves, their family and anyone else out, to any invading foriegn company or army today. Your nothing but a rat and a traitor to the United States and the American worker. Stay off this blog

Lol there's 101 ways get around federal regulations and make it look like legit company policy not retaliation. These people are billionaires for a reason. You will be made an example of trust me.

Iam guessing when you was gung ho for Union you didn't realize that was just one small step.

You didn't climb a mountain heck your not even on it. Your at base camp. Altice knows they can't let you make Union look good. They can't risk losing other depots. They are not obligated to give you anything different from non Union depots in regards to benefits. If your Union allows the "me too" clause than you won nothing.

Your fight will be long and hard. Don't think for a second this will be a cake walk. You will be an example to other depots. Whether that's good or bad remains to be seen.

I disagree about waking up a monster statement I look at it more like David slaying Goliath. It's federally illegal to retaliate against any company going union. There is nothing they can do to us especially if all the remaining shops go union. Now is the time and Oakland just set it off. Altice is nothing but a pack of wolves & they thought we were gonna be the sheeps for them to feed off.

Not so fast buddy. Oakland stepped into a hornets nest. We're waiting to see how Altice deals with Oakland. Winning union representation dont mean squat. Now the truth about Altice and what Union can do will be revealed.

Something tells me the monster that resides within this global company will be forced out thanks to Oakland. As the Japanese once said after Pearl Harbor "I think we have awoken a monster"
