I was recently at a Altice break the union meeting in Oakland, when the meeting started I can see it in almost everyone's eyes and their body language that they would vote the union in.But as the meeting went on I noticed that 3/4 of the room started acting a little different .I think that the meeting was effective in changing enough people that they will not have enough votes. They will choke just like all the other depots.

Oakland techs are the best and we are smarter than they thought, we now have a union!!!!!
Guess you were wrong. Do you really think anyone bought any of the brainwashing? I actually think those meetings hurt more than help. PH is a great salesman till he gets some good questions. Then he loses the sale. Didn't look like anyone choked today.
Maybe U should of voted on union after all
You work your tail off for a company for 25 years & what did I get??? 3 weeks for every year! Whooppie!!!!! I'm getting taxed 40% & i have to pay for my health insurance! THANKS DOLAN FAMILY! YOU GOT A BUNCH OF MONEY FROM ALL OF US TECHS BUSTIN' OUR ASSES! WE MADE THE COMPANY A SUCCESS!!! NOW YOUR REAPING THE REWARDS & WE'RE GETTING SCREWED!!!( we didn't even get dinner) MAYBE TRUMP SHOULD BAN PEOPLE FROM FRANCE!!!!
@Ringo
They did not decert because of payoffs. That's just BS. People were sick and tired of 827 always protecting the f--- ups while people who busted their asses got nothing from it other then threats to slow down or become completely ostracized by our so called representation. Let's not forget how completely underpaid they were too compared to the rest of the company. Don't get me started on George either. Anytime you needed that guy he was nowhere to be found. He left the shop stewards flopping in the wind while the mob came for their heads. Believe me that's just the tip of the iceberg.
you misunderstood my message.
I was responding to a quote from one of your Oakland techs.
I fully support Oakland and want you guys to vote YES!
@kanobee. Yes they will have much more legs to stand on. Once the union is voted in Altice USA cannot make absolutely no changes to there terms of thete current employment. Only by negotiations can there be changes through some give and take. And in the whole jest of it, they would still be better off than the rest of ALTICE USA footprint including Brooklyn. Altice USA is gearing to reducing more and more expenditure to increase profits. Oakland will not be affected by operational changes not until they ratify a union contract with our guys here in Oakland. Read it and weep baby read it and weep. Oakland we are the best, we are the best.
"Even if they vote it in they'll have no leg to stand on. Altice has no reason to go dishing out a good contract. If the others shops had voted yes I'd be all for it. Not like Brooklyn got a whole lot out of it."
That type of mentality will prevent techs across the footprint from EVER becoming unionized.
I hope & pray that the majority of the Oakland shop IS NOT thinking like this. If so, call up IBEW and tell them to withdraw immediately!
Ringo is right on the money with what he said.
Until enough techs truly understand what a union is, we will continue to be victims of our own ignorance.
Many techs fail to realize that Brooklyn employees have something that no other employee across the footprint has............ a voice when it comes to the terms & conditions of their employment.
Why do you think ATS isn't being offered to any Brooklyn techs?
Why do think there hasn't been any voluntary separation packages offered to any Brooklyn techs?
Management is obligated to sit down and negotiate any changes to the terms & conditions of their employment. Hilber will never tell you this very significant FACT!
in next meeting with HIlber, ask him to bring a dozen technicians from the Brooklyn shop to have a open discussion about their experience being union over the past 2 years. Watch his body language when he gives you bogus reason as to why that won't happen.
The union leaders inside that Oakland shop better make sure an overwhelming majority of you are ready to vote YES. if not, just gracefully pull out.
wish you guys all the best!
Hey counterpoint let's be real, decert happened because of all the payoffs. If you honestly think you keeping half of what you get today you are pretty delusional.
Now that's a real severance package the Altice bubble is bursting At Sfr they have to keep cutting to stay afloat at least the unions got the employees a real exit package. Nice article
Wondering what a union could do and the type of boss you have? Read this article...

What do you think they would walk away with not having representation?
@ 1gzd What do you think Brooklyn was going to get in the first contract? The hardest thing to do is to just get the first contract, that's why it took years and once that first contract is signed you build upon it with better contracts in the future. You guys are late to the game but want everything like you've been in the fight for 50 years your struggle is just beginning. You can always tell when someone never been in a union, always wanna know what is the union gonna do for me, what am I gonna get? and they fail to realize that they are the Union. The Union ain't the big shots up in the union hall the Union is the members. "You Are The Union" and when workers today finally wake up and get it, that when you're gonna start to see real change in this country.
As a previous part of management our jobs are to make sure union doesn't come into the shop. I cannot tell you weather it's good or bad but what I can say is do what's best for your family.
Even if they vote it in they'll have no leg to stand on. Altice has no reason to go dishing out a good contract. If the others shops had voted yes I'd be all for it. Not like Brooklyn got a whole lot out of it.
I really can't comprehend it. What is he saying that is making your mind change. If you bring this union in you will be in a better place these same guys, that are talking to you are the same guys that have destroyed lives look at all the people that have been leaving and look at The Shelton call center you think they wanted to leave no it was them. What do you think that if you do what they say you will be spared, look at Brooklyn as an example do you actually think the Brooklyn Shop is going to be closed down, and Ats will move in its place? No it won't but you can be in that same footing as Brooklyn, I'm done tired of saying the same things over and over look at all the other post and tell me what altice has done to help the techs during these union drives before and after
Definitely agree that Oakland will not become unionized. All the wolves got turned into sheeps. I hope they don't regret it later
@hqu I guess the management that told you that everything is going to be Ok (and then left) is pretty smart too.
Counterpoint : The techs are too smart to vote it in. There is a reason it was voted out back in 2000
The techs will never. They are not smart enough
who conducted the meeting? Hilber?
