GlobalFoundries is doing it again in Portland next month.
Headlines from 11/16/16: GlobalFoundries seeks to capitalize on Intel layoffs with Portland job fair
Semiconductor manufacturer GlobalFoundries will host a Portland job fair next month, hoping to pick up workers who lost their jobs in Intel's mass layoff last spring.
GlobalFoundries is not hiring for positions in Oregon; its jobs are at its Fab 8 manufacturing site in Albany, New York. The company is a contract manufacturer that was created when Intel's much-smaller rival Advanced Micro Devices spun off its production arm in 2009.

@1onx - Whoa, the Samsung-Harman deal is huge. I had no idea Harman had grown that large and important. So, who is replacing Doug in IOTG when he retires EOY?
I think this was a signal to VSPers and others on the fence that they had better have take this opportunity to look for new employment.
Samsung just announced their intention to buy Harmon. That is dead-center in IOTG's world and home of thousands of man-years of Intel effort to win in automotive. Lot's of so-called experts on automotive infotainment and automotive electronics in Arizona. It is easy to join some dots in hindsight.
Get your life jackets and lifeboats in order as more BK clown ACTs coming to your site for sure. Not a question of if but only when!
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
At one point my org at the high level was exiting Austin as there weren't very many of them there. It was part of the site strategy downsizing a while back. Guessing certain groups are still there.
It was an all day event in the Mission Palms Hotel in Tempe. Jobs were located in Justin. GlobalFoundries held similar event several weeks back for positions in Malta, NY.
suh here - jobs are in Austin... correct?
@zqi- STFU Emoji! You are a babbeltard!
😂😂😂 More ACTs a coming, just the tip of the iceberg!
Many Intel lifers probably don't know about Austin.
Move to Texas, correct?
@ymi is correct. Also there's no way they'd know about something so well hidden from everybody else, especially with enough time to plan an event.
Phoenix is a tech hub, this was fairly normal.
This could be a sneaky plan to "encourage" employees to leave through attrition before ACT; therefore, less actual layoffs.
I wonder why they don't come out to Hillsboro? I'm thinking people might be willing to move since I'm hearing a lot of engineers saying there's not much here for them.
Samsung held a similar event in Albuquerque a few weeks ago.
If they knew anything (before the employees of Intel do), you'd think they'd hold the hiring event AFTER Intel let folks go, not before.
