Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Cobra enrollment for 2017 already started last week

I took ERP this June and thought the enrollment for year is in November. I logged into given today and found out it was already started and close in Oct 28th. No notification to my contact email from Intel. I am under China HDHP this year and want to changes to PPO next year, since Intel will pay for all the monthly payments

Then OP wasn't the only one @3ahx. I too thought we had the same schedule as any other 'open enrollment' datewise.

The OPs original confusion may be because IRMP open enrollment is not open until November. If you are covered with COBRA there is no reason to switch to IRMP.

I'm correcting a statement I made now that I've read the entire package that was sent to me in the mail. I had previously said:

If you already enrolled in COBRA before the 60 deadline ended, and DON'T want to change insurance carriers for 2017... you don't have to do anything as per the Enrollment Notice. Your 2016 COBRA choices will carry over to 2017,

That isn't correct per what I just read in the info mailed to me:

What I said above is true EXCEPT this was omitted (since I just now found out):

...with the exception of those enrolled in Fallon Community or Group Health Cooperative HMOs.

Again, thanks to the OP for bringing this up in the first place.

Re: Sorry typo. I mean China HDHP, not China

You said China HDHP again. I'm thinking you meant CIGNA and your computer thinks that's a typo and is autocorrecting for you (which is very annoying when it does that. lol).

OK, I just looked into this and what the OP says is (semi) correct. I do appreciate your post!!!!

couple of things.... if Intel has your correct address you should have received your 2017 US COBRA Annual Enrollment Guide a few weeks back in the mail. I got one with a statement date of 9/25 so it was mailed out shortly afterward.

Anyway, it indeed says "Annual enrollment is Oct. 10-28, 2016", as does the "My Health Benefits" website (Here's where the link from http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/employee/services-benefits.html takes you:

https://leplb0160.portal.hewitt.com/web/intel/login?forkPage=false .

Please note that the website is not called Goben as the OP says. Go-Ben is the phone number you call if you need to contact Intel about something retirement related. Somehow I must have missed that since I thought it was starting 11/7. I remember thinking they were early sending me my info if they were just going to send it again closer to 11/7.

The part where the OP is 'semi' wrong (only saying this for people not in your same situation as you're looking to change your carrier, others might be fine with theirs)... you ONLY need to do something if you (A) Already enrolled in COBRA as I outlined at the very bottom of this thread, and (B) you want to change your insurance carrier. If you already enrolled in COBRA before the 60 deadline ended, and DON'T want to change insurance carriers for 2017... you don't have to do anything as per the Enrollment Notice. Your 2016 COBRA choices will carry over to 2017,

We were mailed which says "Your current coverage is listed below. If you Plan to keep your current coverage, you don't need to enroll. If you want to change your current coverage, you must enroll.". Then it further goes on to say enroll at www.intel.com/go/myben (so OP is actually correct there too but my links work. Guessing the myben link takes you to the same place 'My Health Benefits'.

But, if like the OP you DO want to change carriers, you have until 10/28. I wonder why the difference in dates?

Thank you, OP, for pointing that out to folks!!! That's be a real p*sser had someone wanted to change and thought it opened in early November.

I am in US, not China. The typo was due to my phone self adjusted what I typed. I also thought the open enrollment is on November. When I logged in my account to see if I have a message on Cobra 2017 renew, I was surprised to see enrollment period already started and ends by Oct 28th. In the main goben website I also found current employees start enrollment this Monday. Seems like Intel moves all the date up. Just log into your goben account and check for any alerts. I already modified my insurance provider and got confirmation yesterday.

I'm not really sure how to respond since this doesn't make sense to me. Are you in China? Maybe they have different rules.

All I know is COBRA wasn't automatic. You had to sign up within 60 days to be covered day 1. Day 1 = 7/1/16, even if you took 60 days to enroll from June. Our (US) Open Enrollment is in November for 2017. Coverage is on a yearly basis so no sure why you have conflicting info with dates that don't line up with how things work. Can you elaborate further?

In the US we ERPed 6/24 so October is WAY past 60 days. Hence me not quite following what you need. It's not making sense to me.
