There's no "teach out". Its done... The staff was told Friday not to show up. I stopped by the local campus...and the place was basically abandoned. Doors open, but no staff, one instructor (but her classroom was locked) and a few students wondering what was going on. This is not a smooth dignified ending for ITT. Its chaos.

I will tell you honestly that I was sometimes uncomfortable, as adjunct instructor, teaching the past few quarters at my campus. Once the campus had downsized, there were no full time faculty or chairs any more, and combined dean/director goes home at 7 pm along with all the other admin.
So that leaves typically 10 classes or so, all taught by adjunct (technically part-time temporary employees) faculty, until 10 or 11 at night. No one "running" the campus after 7 pm. l thought it was irresponsible of ITT-Tech to operate a school where full time admin employees worked in the day, and students and low-paid part-time temporary faculty had to operate the campus by themselves several hours at night!
And I had several students with behavior, emotional, mental, or anger issues, along with some alcohol and drug abusers. One student showed up only three times, the entire quarter, usually late at night, in military gear, near the end of class, rambling incoherently or making stuff up. I literally had to keep in mind which large male instructors were in which rooms, each night, in case some kind of situation arose and I needed help quickly.
Most students were fine of course, and I think I could count on a lot of level heads prevailing in any emergency, but it wasn't the right way to run a business. What a screwy school, in so many ways. No counselors to give students any professional advising. So glad I am not teaching after this quarter.

"The school has lost its accredition...a teach out isn't possible under any scenario."
No, the school has NOT lost its accreditation. I don't anything about a teach out scenario. But you can verify ITT-Tech is accredited at ACICS website. ITT-Tech is NOT on "accreditation conditioned" list.
ACICS issued a show cause directive against ITT-Tech in April. Early August, ACICS had a hearing with ITT-Tech. Last week ACICS decided to continue show cause directive. ACICS did NOT suspend or revoke accreditation.
DOE is using outcome of recent ACICS hearing with ITT-Tech execs to justify sanctions. ACICS letter to ITT-Tech has not circulated publicly. But DOE saw letter, and says that ITT-Tech is not compliant with accreditation criteria. Many people have speculated online that ACICS should have revoked accreditation, but for some reason did not. ACICS has not been a model of conscientious accreditor!
DOE told ITT-Tech to inform its students of the following :
"ITT Technical Institutes operating under the Indianapolis, IN and Spokane Valley, WA OPEIDs must provide all students with a notice disclosing the ACICS Directive and Continue Directive including the fact that ACICS accreditation standards state that the "Council determines that [the] institution is not in compliance with the Accreditation Criteria, and is unlikely to become in compliance."
Sorry to say...but there's a lot of campuses without any staff to run. Staff has been quiting for weeks now. Take 149 as example: in addition to no recruiting staff, there is no dean, no director, no library assistant, no department chairs, no system support tech, no administrative assistant. All that's left: a career services guy, a financial aid person, and a part-time receptionist. There is no one running that campus (and I imagine similar is happening across the country). I assure you...if they attempt to run classes on 9/12 it will be chaos.
I don't understand how anyone clings to this idea that a teach out is going to happen. The school has lost its accredition...a teach out isn't possible under any scenario.
Recruitment staff was sent home on Thursday and told to report back on following tuesday. Tomorrow.
Campuses were not abandoned, Receptionist and minimal management on hand. Nothing happening on campus anyway. Finals week was last week.
Anybody congratulating DoE has got their head up their a--. All parties involved failed the students
Nobody wins, ACICS fail; DoE waited too long to oversight, fail: Kevin Modany EPIC FAIL and CON job.
Students are the losers, left out to hang because oversight and watchdogs are inept or lazy.
Modany is a first class a-- and CON as are his acolyte Board.
Nothing to celebrate.
Your mom... nevermind I forgot she's a none profit now. All charity work.
Ok it's EDMC turn excellent job to Tim Mitchell and the DOE team!!!
Justice has been served
Which for profit is next: Devry?
Explains why people have so much time to post on this forum.
Finals are done. Of course no one is I'm the school and only recruitment staff was told not to come is, as to not be in any potential violation of perceived recruiting. No chaos that I've seen.
