Past Midday and no news... must be cuddling with the DOE after assraping they gave him.
Modany is a wizard... watch the magic he pulls this week. Before you know it he'll have the administration pushing for the privatization of all schools.
@zlu, nice analysis.
A couple things. I can log in to distance education site still, at http://www.distance-education.itt-tech.edu/online/clikslogin
Title IV funds, I have heard a lot about the past few days. Title VII is ?
For students and others who feel their futures are hanging in the balance, it should be pointed out that ITT-Tech's plan is still unknown. Speculation is still the name of the game here, based on website redirects. So, saying "With this message, HQ has clearly decided to close the school and has officially entered 'teach out.'" can't be taken literally.
@zlu, what you are saying makes sense. Even the wording of the announcement has an air of finality -- nothing about "at this time" or "currently."
But, the history of ITT-Tech this past decade has been so full of surprises. For example, Modany's mysterious reincarnation as CEO, 18 months after resigning, is mind boggling.
The DOE directed ITT to cease all new enrollment of students using Title VII funds. State agencies in California and Wisconsin have stopped ITT from enrolling new students, however ITT is still allowed to enroll students everywhere else.
The DOE required ITT to inform students of the current situation with funding and pending loss of accreditation with ACICS. There was no requirement ITT cease all enrollment or post the same on its website.
This is a big development. Literally all ITT pages, including the exclusive sub-site for distance learning, redirect to the same landing page that simply states ITT is no longer enrolling new students. With this message, HQ has clearly decided to close the school and has officially entered "teach out." The only remaining question is if they will somehow negotiate a deal with the DOE to allow existing students to complete degrees or get arrangements in place with other local schools for transfer. Unfortunately, the numbers don't add up and classes will likely only be transfered on a limited case-by-case basis.
Investors won't stand for another trading day without news. Expect word from HQ by midday.
Bankruptcy announcement Monday.
Board is going after DOE
They can have the reps start calling the DOE 3 times a day every day for a month or two
The board is busy eating doughnuts, please do not disturb
The announcement on the website regarding "no longer accepting enrollments"was required by DoE.
All speculation. Board is going after DOE.
Monday morning is gonna be interesting.
"ESI will declare bankruptcy on Monday morning. Schools will shutter by Friday (with limited staff from Monday - Friday). Sorry."
Is this speculation or insider information?
ESI will declare bankruptcy on Monday morning. Schools will shutter by Friday (with limited staff from Monday - Friday). Sorry.
Looks like the board met this weekend and reached the same conclusion as many observers.
