I have taken all reports seriously and to heart. I have just begun my third quarter of my first year, and it is EXTRMELY evident that the instructors are NOT qualified, and do not have a true desire to teach. Only two individuals at the Everett, WA Campus qualify as competent and engaged, with a true passion for teaching. ONLY TWO! Whether I stay or leave, get my AA or BA, drop out or graduate, it will ALL achieve the same result, a low paying crap job just like I am working now. I might get health benefits and some sort of smoke and mirror paid vacation, but it would be a far cry from the life and career I am dreaming of.
IF they are closing, outright or end of year, it is worthless to stay on any longer. ZERO credits are transferrable to another college. ZERO! Read it and weep. Staying on will only consume your financial aid/student loans and create needless debt in the attempt of bettering yourself and your life, with the goal of ELIMINATING debt. Crippling debt, life changing debt, cant get credit or additional school loan type of debt. Leaving now will mean I "waste" my tuition for summer quarter, its already wasted. Leaving now will mean my loans and atudent aid stop as well, they cant spend my tuition for winter quarter if I leave and don't register.
I'm out. Done. Gone. Not going back. There is no need. There are rumors going around that a math instructor was heard walking out of the building in a huff saying "I'm going som place with real maath curriculum to teach." Wow. Thats alarming. It is clear to me that my Into to AutoCAD instructor was a nice woman, who works for a popular restaurant chain in the PNW, a booming business by all standards. She's got the great job I and every other student is looking for. While she works for said company and uses AutoCAD on a daily basis, she is in no way qualified or experienced enough to teach. At any school, let alone THE national tech school which touts the best of everything. They just tout the best bullshit to get us to sign up.
Leave while you can, before your loan status is destroyed and you cant go back to school. And everyone thinking of signin up, DON'T! You may not have a local school or institution teaching what you want to learn. Move, find a way to get what you want. You may have to change evreything if y our life to get it. You want change? Start creating it. It's entirely up to you.
I feel duped. But I've learned a life long lesson. Trust YOUR instincts and research everything. If you dont get the answer you want, either you asked the wrong quesiton, or the answer you got explains your fears and reasons for you asking such a question in the first place.
P.S. One of the two instructors I mentioned who ARE competent and qualified, taught me what the "nth degree" really means.
