Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Age Discrimination at Intel

I recently saw a list of 41 individuals that were part of Intel's workforce reduction. 100% of the 41 individuals were over 40 years old. BK and the executives are miss-managing Intel and putting the entire company at unnecessary risk.

I predict that someone at Intel will follow this recent example at Google.

The EEOC would be the right organization to report violations of the ADEA.

And it proves BK is a hypocrite for not laying himself off since he is 55+ and an obvious poor performer.

Well if intel is doing discriminatory hiring inside the company, report it anonymously to the proper authorities.

Whistleblower protection.

Even the ISP no rehire policy is likely a discrimination. How do you say someone is a no-rehire if they receive a successful? is this allowed per the EEOC?

https://www1.eeoc.gov//laws/practices/index.cfm?renderforprint=1:

"......For example, an employer's reliance on word-of-mouth recruitment by its mostly Hispanic work force may violate the law if the result is that almost all new hires are Hispanic." Whoa, isn't this a common practice everywhere? It is even more pronounced in much smaller companies than Intel. Also, there are whole parts of the industry (wireless infrastructure for example) that are controlled exclusively by one ethnic group....Engineering needs a real professional organization, not the joke called IEEE (for EE's) as it functions now.

I'm surprised too becasue https://www1.eeoc.gov//laws/practices/index.cfm?renderforprint=1 states the following

'For example, a help-wanted ad that seeks "females" or "recent college graduates" may discourage men and people over 40 from applying and may violate the law.'

Managers are told they can only fill new reqs for UMR candidates and entire departments thatwill only hire RCG. Basically doing everything that's specifically mentioned as prohibited.

@Ia9yyFx-cqp: Yes there is lot going on inside Intel and probably these Law firms afraid to take on INTLEL(corp lawyers) or doesn't have good details. Also I don't think they have good insight into intel people management policies!!!

Intel does Age Discriminate. It's amazing no law firm has taken this on with them yet.

40 years old is the age cutoff for the ADEA. The Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) only forbids age discrimination against people who are age 40 or older. It does not protect workers under the age of 40, although some states do have laws that protect younger workers from age discrimination.

It depends on local. ~Hillsboro 115k Santa Clara is ~130k. RCG relocating to Santa Clara also get a higher relocation bonus vs relocating to Hillsboro. About 16% more.

Rcg phd gets lot more than 115k. Not sure how old your data is. It is in the ballpark of 130-150 (phd).

The savings aspect is such bull.

I was offered vsp but my grade 8 salary was at the medium. It want like I was sitting at the 3 sigma on pay scale.

Age discrimination is age discrimination. Whether it's firing over 40, or the opposite of firing all employees under 40 (hypothetical of course)

I am over 50, of course I don't feel old, but to intel and many other companies you are OLD, overpaid and an RCG PhD making 115K is far cheaper than me... at least that is the prevailing wisdome of BK and others who think any monkey can do the job, dang look at the CEO who is BK'ing the company as an example anything is possible.

The statistics from all those that got VSP, ERP, and ISP are glaring in their statistical distribution to the high end. It ain't no statistical anomaly the selection was biased to the older folks. If they appreciated older people for their "experience" both in focal and selection for reduction it wouldn't be this, but the focal process by definition at Intel is age discriminatory!

There is age discrimination everywhere, not just Intel. I was originally denied employment at Intel based on my age. I pushed back. Then I got hired anyway and I was told by the hiring manager I was one of his best hires. Then 10 years later, I get the ERP/VSP. both. I was sent the list of ISP/VSP/ERP by job title and age. While ERP is no surprise at being all older people, the ISP/VSPs were older too. However to get the generous severance, you have to sign away the right to sue for age discrimination or be part of any class actions. This actually happened to me at my employer prior to Intel as well. No surprises there. I've signed up with a career transition service and am almost daring them to get me across the age barrier. Lesson: save like the dickens while you can because your assumption that you can keep working as you age is bullshit.

Over 40? Seriously? You call that age discrimination? How old are you, 12? lol 40 is NOT old. Just wait, you too will be 40 one day if you're lucky.

And quoting Fox news? Might as well quote the National Enquirer.
