Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

So we have this layoff thing instead of the old good times for Quarterly?

A though just came out of no where reminding me "where is my quarterly!?"

Right, where is my QUARTERLY?!

So we have this layoff thing instead of the old good times for Quarterly? Who moved my cheezzy cheese!

There are teams are still going with the $25 quarterly budget? That was the budget over 25 years ago. One thing my group did right was adjust it for inflation. Our quarterly budget is $50

If your biggest concern about Intel is the lack of Quarterlies/stupid team events, you are exactly the type of people who should be cut.

The entire concept of team builder is a lost art. If the manager even remember to schedule one for the qtr (most of the time they don't care to), it's usually just go out for an hour or two and est. No comraderie. They just try to use up the quarterly budget. Defeats the purpose of the Grove definition of a legitimate "team builder". Most of these mgrs don't have a clue how to manage. They just bark out orders what to do and are usually wrong.

Ah quarterly what a nice concept, but in some groups the pressure between work and time with family overwhelm even the desire to team build. I can't remember a quarterly where we have free food/drink and fun times where we had 100% participation, they don't use the term WLB it is all about WLE, LOL

Unfortunately I do have to agree with you @fix, a lot of them are, but it's not fair to say all of them are.

Classic that you mentioned admins may or may not set up quarterlies. Better off doing it yourself cause they are pretty useless.

I don't get why anyone would bother educating outsiders about Intel. All you're doing is giving outside trolls more fodder.

Quarterlies are fun events that are supposed to be scheduled quarterly, hence the name. You get to spend $25 per BB head.

And speaking as an Admin.... I've seen this in a LOT of orgs where everyone expected the Admin to schedule them so when that wasn't getting done, they'd complain that they didn't have quarterlies any longer. Newsflash.... ANYONE can plan them, it doesn't have to be the admin.

So my advice, if you still want them and your admin is too busy (or doesn't like doing the planning), ask your manager if you can plan them. Best to make sure the money is still there first although I hadn't heard of it going away before I left.

no focal quarterlies have been announced yet. but the standard quarterlies have been gone for awhile. perhaps they should bring them back as as 'inclusion' event. it might help morale and lessen the tension between the races and sexes that have been brought about by ACT, the affirmative action hiring guidelines, and the Diversity and Inclusion directives published regularly on Circuit

Quarterlies turning into focal can be worse than they are.... Instead of getting X# of weeks pay when laid off, they'll give you $25 per head. Don't spend it all in one place! LOLOL

It's what struggling, shrinking companies do.

Quarterly's use to be team builder events, now Intel has turned it into a focal event.
