Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Any known risk turning down an ERP?

A friend of mine was offered the ERP. And we know that the ERP was a numbers game, YOS plus age > 75 and it went to you. My friend is not in a financial position to take it. Is there any perceived risk by not taking it? Me, I would take it and run. It's a nice package.

Dumb3st PHD and husband of Original poster, in case granny did not inform you.... Intel used to boast of ONLY HAVING Alpha A personality employees in their company. Granny tries too hard to fake herself as Alpha A personality because she thinks it means being a high performer LMAO. Psycho is as fake as her fake nails. Bitter woman.

LOL @1nhu Proving that those that can't do , get a PHD. PHDs are dime a dozen, Intel is doing great cleaning out PHD people such as you with bull$hit dissertation which serve no purpose in the workplace. Getting a PHD is no big deal unless it is from IVY LEAGUE school. So shut it. There are plenty of low tier schools in USA that you can buy a PHD from.

Personally I hope some people don't take it and they open it to volunteers

You don't have to be broke at age 55 to be unable to financially unable to be retire.

There are plenty of people who may have a kid or two in college, a wife that never/doesn't work, a family member or parents in medical trouble, a child with mental disabilities...or maybe even someone that just doesn't think his $2M cash pile is enough to survive for the next 30-40yrs.

@1nho: I don't know to whom you are referring as Alpha, etc. I wrote the post before yours and I am a male with a Ph.D. (RF) working for another company. How is that for achievement? But again in your post, and other similar, there are strong indications that you are high.....you can damage your brain you know, if you haven't already....

Take it and run! It's a chance to leave on good terms. If you get the ISP in the future you will never be re-hired. Go take a vacation. Sell off all the things you don't need.

Will 2 pieces of free tampons do?

At 55 if you were a value add at Intel, you can get equally good job outside Intel with equally good company.

Intel is only interested in keeping people who are or have possibility of being successful outside Intel. Otherwise, bye bye.

Your friend should leave with dignity while she can. She is chosen to be rid of. If not ERP, it will be VSP or ISP.

Remember, the ERP was also offered to 55 + 15 years. I know several in that category who are struggling with the decision. They are too far from Social security to actually retire. So, do they take it and have a year to figure out what to do next (in their mid to late 50s) our hang on and hope to stay a few more years.

Ok Alpha-A personality psycho bimbo granny calm down and stop getting jealous of other people with your age envy, qualifications envy, etc because they worked hard ... while you were hunting men to divorce and collect alimony from.

You're not the only one with a family and family members that get sick. Stop making excuses for yourself being a retard and low achiever in actuality, while self pro-claiming to be a Alpha-A high achiever. People are just being polite and nice to you when you go into your mentally-unfit-to-be at Intel modes. You made money by being a stingy woman, collecting money on your divorces and now ERP .. why don't you instruct your friend to do the same. Though it's probably too late for her being past her 50s now ?

@1fup and few others: You are the ones described in your posts, the ones with no skills and no brains; otherwise you would understand that there are people that might have had health issues in their families, maybe had the back luck of working in companies that went belie up, or for whatever reason they are not ready to call quits yet..... Idiots.

Do not assume that these friends are men.

There are plenty broke old women at Intel. Poor marriage choices marrying dud men.

Those who do not take ERP or VSP

--> must get a ISP

... that would be fair to those who accepted their offered ERP and VSP

Exactly, how can one work for such a long time at large company such as Intel and still be broke at > 75. So many losers and seat warmer type oldies at Intel. All these many years of brown nosing, all talk no results, no career goals, surviving in job day to day through playing politics.

Now whose fault is it that you only had a job at Intel instead of a career. People with careers keep updating their skills and education.. work into their long years and are not scared of being unemployed at just 55. If in the job market, no one wants to hire these grannies, why should Intel keep them around and give them charity pay checks.

Their only skill is writing word and power point documents. They have not worked in any other well known company besides Intel. Probably do not even have a Bachelors degree. It will be shocker to them to know the skills required in the current job market. Funniest when I overheard one granny who has excepted EPR talking about getting $100 an hour consulting work when it is know at Intel her only skill is motor-mouthing, Microsoft office and delivering projects late.

theres a lot of negative replies, from needy individuals. like the two in this post poking fun at the person whos not able to accept it due to his own financial situation. maybe the person has had other priorities other than working 70 to 80 hours a week, so he or she can get 4% raise instead of 2.5%. Maybe his choice is to live life and enjoy other than stashing away every possible dollar. or maybe there was some financial issue that took away some wealth. and maybe your infantile posts make you feel better about yourself, cause ya probably aint got no life of your own.

TURN DOWN ESP AND VSP IF YOU WANT UNEMPLOYMENT! YOU DON'T GET IT IF YOU TAKE THOSE.

@1vfh....why not just hold off on accepting the VSP and hope your eligible for next round of ERP...I too am just short of it. it seems to me , and I have gotten similar inputs from others(not on this forum), that it will be offered again in the next package. If I am mistaken about that , pls share why you think so. Each head laid off gets reported to the state and the number gets out on the web, and in az isp means --unemployment, however small its still there. so i think the corporation has some incentive to continue with the ERP-- basically to keep the layoff number lower. if that were not the case, annual layoffs would always have been a much higher number.

They want the old guys with the perception of overpaid gone.

If you don't go now you could get ISP with less benefits later. You will always qualify for the rule of 75 benefits but lose thing like one year pay. Seems crazy not to take it and have a full year to find another job

I can't imagine why anyone would not take ERP. A year of pay, 18+ months of paid medical, the option to get rehired after a year and keep retirement pay (if so desired), and time to find a less stressful career path if needed to make ends meet for a while.

I'm just shy of being eligible. I would have taken it, bought a newer car, and drove Uber while traveling/camping across the country for a year. Instead, I'm facing the option of 7+ months pay through VSP to completely rework my retirement plans.

You're being offered something "special" for a reason... and that reason sums up to you no longer being wanted, just like VSP.

Did he/she also receive VSP? If not, he/she should not take it unless there is a risk of project/program

cancellation.
