Wonder what the time in grade calculations will be once those older employees are shown the door. The median will drop and then you get scooped up. Today you might be ok. Next focal, you could be one that gets snagged.

@bam if the younger suck the work up
If they can hirer people. It was always hard to convince good workers to join during good economic times.
But I guess these aren't good times so they will have no problem.
Meet vsp but pay is at median
I guess they aren't allowed to use that criteria.
Being +1 st dev doesn't mean you're +1 st dev in pay.
Flawed assumption.
It's whatever Dick Taylor says it is to get rid of people that don't help his diversity goals.
Every grade there is a distribution of time in grade, better not be on the longer than average.
Common sense, recently promoted likely on the lower end of the pay scale in the new job grade so they have head room for future O/E and not top out.
As you spend more and more time in the grade you should naturally end up on the higher end of pay. Thus you are highly paid, not moving up as you don't got E/O or high level stock, Intel don't want them average hard working over paid, and older workers.
Think will suck for some natural break areas for senior technicians that max out and area between senior IC and first line manager and second line manager and third line manager.
Why HR or senior management thinks this is good is beyond me, but the fact they get rid of higher paid older folks is good for the cost structure if you believe the younger works can suck it up.
