Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

How are you preparing for next round of layoffs in June?

I work in ICS. We have no idea if we are going to get blindsided or not. We just had a week of F2F meetings and upper management was there. The mood was definitely in heavier than usual. Lots of language about performance management and making decisions faster. Three weeks ago I loved my group. Now no one knows if they are safe or not. Resumes have gone out.Networking as much as I'm able. I'm tired all the time and think it is depression.

Remember, no matter what happens, it's not the end of the world. Been there, done that. Will probably be there and doing that again soon. Good luck to all.

I agree. I've been given the option of a VSP and am contemplating whether to take it or wait it out. Seems it might be a good idea to wait it out to see what happens. Worse I could get is an ISP, and I'll need to retool and go for something else. Probably best to polish off the resume and prepare for the interviews.

@HiWjHsy-qfg I worked at Intel during the Grove era too. There's no comparason between now and then. Grove worked you into the ground, but he rewarded to for it. Craig Barrett ruined the company with his "leading edge is bleeding edge" bullshit leading Intel away from being the best. I got laid-off in 1998 when they started this replace older engineers with Chinese and Indian H1B stuff.

The way I handled it is take the ERP. Fk Intel, seriously. They are treating folks with so much disrespect it's pitiful. I can't wait to leave, this isn't the Intel Grove ran when I was hired. BK and the upper management soaking up millions of $ and pooring managing this company SUCK.

Above poster is exactly right. If you have been at Intel a while you have transferable skills. Be open to that. Oh and don't get caught being white, male and over 50!

Project-based layoffs won't wait until June, they can just happen anytime from now until then. So yay, we get to watch our backs for 2 whole months!

I had a friend tell me that his team was hurried into a room late last week with their FLM. An HR rep very bluntly said that the entire team was being let go because their project was cancelled, then spelled out the severance package. I haven't talked to him enough to hear details, but it caught the team and the 1st+2nd level managers completely by surprise.

Have a plan B. I won't be surprised people who are not affected with this whole layoff trying to look elsewhere as well. Update your resume, keep all options ready and execute whsn the right time comes..

Relax. Sit back. Put together a strategy. You will probably be leaving, but you need to think clearly. So many people just suddenly in "networking" mode. This is crap. You may want to consider getting into a new industry. There will always be jobs.
