Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Layoff machine

Intel layoff machine is getting more enhanced every year. This year brings SSL4/5, site closure, site consolidation, 3 successful and no exceed/outstanding, ISP, VSP, Enhance retirement, and layoffs. They have set up a system to yearly clean house and reduce head count specially targeting older employee. They could have eliminated much more than 12000 due to slump in business but probably the logistics of it prevented them in doing so. By the time they manage the 12000 they will be ready for the next round. Just Look at last year it was only ISP and 1100 employees and now you have all these others way of eliminating headcount and 10 X more. They found a loop hole in the system to layoff employees w/o getting sue. With the PC business going down they no longer need 100K employees. It's that simple. Time to move on to other industries beside PC. The heydays of PC business is over. Only BK and his gang will do good.

They'll be back up over 100K heads before the year ends. Management, specifically Richard Taylor and BK are f---ing morons. They'll fire 12K people by end of June, and then they'll start hiring again in August.

Same sh-- different day. "we need to transform". Bullshit, you want to save money by forcing out expensive employees and bringing in cheap ones. STFU.

I agree with other poster. If they only offering VSP's to the majority how will they get to the target 12K by the end of the year? Something is off.

If 3 consecutive ss3's is the criteria for ISP, half my team or probably half of Intel would disappear.

Yep, scare those that stay behind so they leave on their own an no need to hand out $100k in severance pkg and further headcount reduction. 12000 is not enough but all they could handle.

You would be stupid to not take the VSP. I think many will take it, because the company will be devastated after this round of HC reductions & none of the root causes of Intel's problems are actually being addressed. The people who stay will be left with a mess & a culture of fear.

@H4kBvzS-sqx perhaps you missed this post: @H4O5vzD it states that anyone without an EE/O within past 3 years is being offered VSP and the emails will be sent to those eligible at 6am PST.

3 Successful in a row could be what Oregonlive did not get right. How else will they get 12000 people. Not many will take the VSP and less than 4K tagged as ISP.

You need to stop spreading rumors regarding satisfactory with SSL 3 for three consecutive years as one of the criteria for ISP; that is absolutely not a criteria for ISP.
