Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

I did not use any vacation day this year, either my sabbatical yet. What will happen to those days!

I was so busy and the team relied on me for our project schedule. I could not take any vacation so far.

Will they compensate for those days?

@H31R2Eu-nyg is correct, sabbatical is take it or leave it...Intel will cash you out in your package if you've reached eligibility. For RIF actions they do not allow you to take your sabbatical and stay employed then term you upon return. The goal of RIF is to get as many employees off of the payroll as quickly as possible because they need to show the reduction in quarterly earnings. Also why everything is moving quickly - the bulk of the action will bring down h/c and payroll by Q3 this year...the rest of the savings will be realized by QoQ through Q2 2017.

2015 ISP survivor here: Not only did they pay my sabbatical and 2015 vacation time, they also paid me the 11 days vacation carried over from 2014. I live in CA. In our case we had until July 15th to inform them of all this but for those walking out next week you probably need to have all your vac accrual ready to inform them.

@nyg is correct about the official sabbatical policy.

HOW EVER, I know that, in the past, adjustments have been made for some employees to allow them to take their sabbatical before leaving. It would not hurt to ask...

The sabbatical is "take it or leave it", there is no compensation related to it.
