Intel sucks. Take the severance and move on. Find a job where you don't have to worry about getting fired for 6 months out of each year. Left Intel and never regretted it. They are the butt hole of companies.

Just another example of how f---ed up Intel is.

I'm not going to pretend I could handle the situation any better than the current management. This can't be easy for them either. Management was swift and deliberate in getting us the timeline. They made a judgement call on how to best communicate the compensation packages. Maybe they did it wrong, but even HR consulting agencies (who have broad expertise in this sort of thing) would struggle with how to best handle communicating financial package details to a company of 100k employees.

1aq, I apologize, reading your post I got the impression you work for HR and were mad about the leaks. Agreed that sooner is better no matter how delivered. I too wish they would have said more on Tuesday.

Intel leaks this so you won't drop dead when HR and your manager hall your assoff the building. Time to face the reality of unemployment and waiting in EE line losers. Say hello to flipping hamburgers.

Just to be clear - I'm not bothered that the info was leaked. I'm bothered that Intel hasn't shared any of this info in short order after Tuesday's announcement. That the information (fortuitously) showed up in the Oregonian. Intel's change management has only communicated out when people will hear that they are losing their jobs. They have not announced when they will tell people or about how much money they will receive. And that is what pisses me off.

I see how my original note was misconstrued and I'm sorry about that. This whole thing is stressful and words didn't come across very well.

A 6 day gap between the announcement and the actual layoff is UNACCEPTABLE !! They should have rolled everything out the morning after.

@uel - I'm a regular employee who might lose their job. My husband is legally blind and cannot work but he is not blind enough to qualify for disability. My income hardly supports my family. I really like and care about my job - I take pride in my work and enjoy it. My family has lived below the poverty line for the past several years. If my head is on the chopping block, it will set my family back in a really bad way. I'm at risk like anyone else and I'm scared.

I'm pissed off that Intel didn't share this information with us this week. That someone at Intel gave that information to the Oregonian, so we could all find out this way instead. I'm not mad that someone leaked information. In fact, I'm glad they did because now we have some kind of information to go on. What I'm pissed about is that the powers that be didn't have the forethought or balls to shed some light on compensation - even if it was ball park figures - before the media picked it up.

You may take pride in your role (I was too). But I think it is important for people to know about their future ASAP. If it is due to some one leaking the information, so be it.

@ifo - I see your point about respecting people's privacy. But the sheer volume of this event is - dare I say - terrorizing. People need security right now, and ballpark figures early on can help people make informed decisions. If they wanted to manage this change really well, they would gradually expose people to the things that help people feel secure: money, options for working in a different function, etc. That information can be high level this early on. Sure, it may raise more questions, but that is what a timetable matrix is for - to tell people what to expect and when. Right now, the only thing they are communicating out is when people can expect to hear that they will lose their jobs.

First of all, you seem to imply you're privy to such information so how about letting us know if it's correct. I assume you think so, otherwise you wouldn't be "Pissed Off" of some apparent leak.

Secondly, I would assume there are a great many of us facing the chopping block who take pride in our jobs and ourselves. Your comment comes off as grossly offensive to me, you're pissed off because someone might have leaked some info? How dare they! Wonder if you'd be pissed off if you were loosing your job, or I assume that won't happen because you're one of the few "Who takes pride in their role" Give me a break

@fxd - Exactly. This is about integrity and maintaining some shred of credibility. Your second suggestion essentially what we do at work anyway when we link to IB! "Keep it high level in your written communication and link to a document on Inside Blue'" No different!

It's awful that this internal information keeps leaking. I think upper management may be trying to protect people's privacy and they feel it isn't appropriate for them to release details of the packages publicly but someone is taking it upon themselves to reveal all the know to Oregon Live. I guess it's the new normal since information can now spread across the net within seconds. I'm very sorry for everyone impacted. I hope we can all find new work quickly.

yeah, not cool. I'll bet Intel wishes they could figure out who's doing that. They'd be one of the 12K.

However, Intel should know by now that someone IS, has been, and will continue to leak stuff so why no either (A) just give it to us, or (B) add a link to the Oregonian on ACTHub so we can get it as soon as they leak it. lol Sorry, didn't mean to laugh.
