Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Passed over at QualComm

According to this article, Intel's new mover and shaker was passed over at QualComm in favor of Amon.

QualComm is a fabless shop. Intel is a fab-based shop. What could possibly go wrong?

@4ryd I meant that I've also heard others echo your words, but I don't want to speak for them definitely. I wasn't doubting your sincerity at all. Good luck

I'm dead serious @4awa. I posted out after trying it for a year (1st and only posting since I hired on and that was over a decade) and told my new manager that if it came my way, I'd move on to stay ahead of it, even if that meant going out the door. I'm serious. It's now coming my way, there's no place to run, so I'm leaving soon. Getting my ducks in a row now (personal stuff) and then I'm out. Hopefully before I have to spend a day in it. lol

Hoping for a VSP to put some money in my pocket on the way out. :)

I've heard some really good people mumble about how TW3 is helping push them out the door. Can't speak to if they're serious or just venting. But yes, it's having a very negative effect.

he got 10% on his base pay now at 1.1 mil; his cash incentive target increased 46% to 3.5 mil; but if I read this right- he only realized a 2% increase at 3.3 mil because last year he exceeded the target substantially. so yeah- he got a 2% raise on the 3+ million cash incentive; and a 10% raise on his 1 million base. that and 10 million in stock ;)

For me (in regards to TW3) I can't work with the VERY limited desk space that's left after your computer stuff takes up the rest. There's approximately 1 SF of usable space. That is NOT enough! I have multiple projects I'm working on and 1 SF isn't doing it for me. Hence my decision to quit when it comes my way. I'm actually surprised more people aren't quitting over it because we're not loving it the way CS (Neil) says we are.

Soon... :)

The worst thing about TWWW is that it's still going in. WTF?? Nobody likes it, every engineer agrees it's far less productive to work in, yet it continues! I do love how CS found that noise is "about the same as before" by doing surveys instead of actual measurements of noise. Yes, move people out for 2 months and then ask their opinion when they come back. Science at its best. Some really bright people in CS.

What percent raise is he getting @3ejg? The average 2% like a lot of others?

the bulk of his raise is basically "market adjustment", they claim his tcomp is still below the median of his peers. they did give him a shïtton of stock though for rearranging the deck chairs.

For what @3sfv?!?!? What did he do to warrant that? i don't know everything the man has done but something feels amiss here.

I doubt the Board is all that displeased with BK, have you read the stockholder material? He is up for a super huge fat raise.

nerf guns and bouncy ball chairs; only no projectiles and no fall hazards; so really just a bullpen with no walls. uncool response to mockary by Conan- also makes it easier to clean out your desk when you get whacked since there is no place to accumulate anything. win-win

What's TWWW?

OMG, don't even get me started on TWWW @2xjk. I HATE IT! So much so that I found a new job ~5 yrs ago that wasn't in it and vowed to stay ahead of it if it came my way, even if that meant walking out the front door. I'm keeping my promise. I got lucky with 5 TW3 free years before it's headed my way later this year. The front door is looking mighty nice to me since there's no longer anyplace to run. Will take early retirement and hope a package miraculously appears timewise so I can get that on my way out. If no package, oh well, I'm still leaving.

Exit, stage right. I'm not working in that TW3 sh-- which has become worse than it was when we did it 6 yrs ago in my group.

BK hired this guy do he could focus on drones and tv shows. He's brought someone in to do his job - think he might get his wish.

Kinda hard to without Renee in the picture since pretty much the beginning @1txm.

I wouldn't be suprised if this is the board's idea, and BK is on notice- I don't think he delivered on the results that he and Renee promised.

If the Intel board had any capacity of strategic thought they would have fired BK by now (c'mon Bryant!). Who knows maybe BK sees it coming and that's why he's making all these drastic changes at the formerly placid management chain of Intel.

There is a reason why he was called PACMAN at qcom...and it wasn't cuz he ate all day.

Sounds like a real "people person" that is toxic to leadership - "results at any cost". No wonder so many senior execs are leaving.

No surprise BK hired him. Cut from the same cloth.

Management 101 says these toxic types should be fired.
