My husband was let go yesterday as well. We have been through this before, and knew it was coming. We will be fine. It's such a blow though, this close to retirement... He really loved working for Devon.

This is a painful and difficult time for many. My heart and prayers go out to each person and each family. Please try to keep a perspective on what is really important in life. This storm shall pass. Pray to God and trust in him for strength, guidance and provision. For your sake and mine, Jesus endured far worse than a job loss. You can do all things through him who gives you strength.

@nxf and @clg - my husband was also laid off here in OKC, he worked for a competitor. This happened in Dec 2014. He was the only provider in our family and this was a huge hit for him.

It took about 5 months of searching to find a good job with all benefits and he's now as happy as he'll ever be. The new position has a lot of challenges but he's learning and they are taking good care of him.

My husband was laid off last year from another company. My advise is to take a day or week to process and grieve. Spend time with family and friends during this difficult time. Polish up the resume and start searching for that next opportunity. Cast your net far and wide and do not be afraid to look outside of the industry and Oklahoma. I know things are hard now but I PROMISE it does get better.

My husband survived today and I think he'll be fine - this was a very hard week for him, he was throwing up constantly, at work he's calm and collected, but at home, late at night, his iron mask comes down and you can see how much all of this impacts him.

We have two boys, 9 and 11 and I am really grateful that they have no clue about what's going on, this would crush them as they see their father as a huge role model.

I thank God for that and I hope things stabilize soon. My prayers go to all who lost their jobs.

Prayers for everyone let go this week and for those still @ Devon facing the next round of cuts or long long hours. Good thread. Hope the "trolls" stay off this thread and people can help each other. (e.g. jobs, resources)

For any people that moved up from Houston when the office closed did they follow through and give you the same package as everyone else today?

I am in a similar situation, SO was 20+ with DVN, strong reviews but well paid and I think they did not like that. He's crushed but we lived modestly and saved a bit, I think we will be fine. All the best to all of you who lost jobs today and yesterday

As someone whose wedding fell through almost a year ago and got laid off from an oil company 2 weeks later... everything happens for a reason. Better things are around the corner - even if today feels utterly miserable. Stay strong and never lose hope!

My husband was let go. He has spent a good chunk of his career with this company, but they still dumped him. I am scared, I am angry, but I do understand that this is a business decision and that it was not personal.

He had a great reputation, great reviews, etc but none of that mattered. We are remaining hopeful that he will find something with similar pay scale soon.

Outside, I am trying very hard to keep it together for my husband and kids, inside I am scared. Sending out best wishes to everyone else in this horrible position.

Let's all keep praying. Trust God despite the circumstances, He closes doors to open better ones. Let's be strong for our spouses.

May God Bless us and our families!
