Man is it tough to think of all my old friends at Devon being treated so bad but these are dark times.

It is almost as sad to think that the sh*t management that bleed this company for SAP/HR and charity events will go unpunished. It is hard to believe that they are in worse shape this downturn than the one in 2009 but they have a lot to thank for that.

Thanks you management boys for the great plays you bought into that never had a chance, the stock buybacks that pissed away the future, the new building that will be empty, the pack of clones in G&A that will be tossed out knowing no more about the oil industry now then when they were hired and thanks to you John Boy for surrounding yourself with yes men that had neither nerve nor brains but knew your buttons and never pushed a one.

To Devonoids: of course you started the speculation. High insurance costs have nothing to do with Obamacare. What they have to do with directly is the bottom line for the company, so that's why your premiums are going up and benefits are going down. Private insurance doesn't cover anyone else... So before starting this stirup, you should sit down and actually think for yourself

@1vsg- 2400 first quarter or overall? I'm still hearing around 1300 but wouldn't be surprised at all if at least 2400 are laid off by the end of 2016

That's BS there is only a handful of attorneys at Devon so source can be found and these meetings people sign non disclosure agreements where they can be legally sued and lose all benefits that's why 99% of these posts are all BS unless someone risking to get in trouble

Also not to start any speculation or make up BS story Devon does it after obamacare another item is looked at.

I got a friend in HR not at Devon but who has managed a few layoffs in the industry one thing many people don't realize he told companies like Devon and most oil companies that manage there own healthcare and all the extra costs due to Obama care unfortunately employees and families who have high medical billables get flagged for high layoff potential due to the cost to the company to pay for it and system. Not trying to stir the pot just knowledge that I never thought companies would look at as layoff factor.

Also if you are friends with the right people goes a long way on you staying or leaving. He told me some of the childish behavior and petty differences because someone don't like you can out you on list. I want state again this is not Devon based story just something someone told me being Hr at other places as like many in this board I am playing the speculation game if I am high potential to be let go, at the end he said unfortunately it's not common sense that hard workers will stay. Basically said reason why you see unqualified people as managers because they knew the right people

This would explain why there is so little information and why supervisors, managers and even directors are claiming to have no insight or say in what cuts are being made. VPs have basically dissapeared in our area. It also would allow for far less bias in determining who is released on the worker level. If you are a high performer working on something deemed critical to the company to continue operations then you are in a good position and that can be judged at a very high level. Reviews and Rankings would be the best tools for them to make judgements followed by how much G&A may be recovered by termination. Logical and fair.
