Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

H1B can go back, sure, why not?

Though true, that many H1B is abused, some extreme views think it should be eradicated.

H1B can go back, but there is a reason why it exists.

that sounds like slave labor / human trafficking and should be illegal ! I feel bad for both the H1B's and americans being sold out by the wealthy elite.

I do not think people here are morons. The questions are not easy questions. Governments, businesses and people have tried different solutions over the years and each solution has come with its own problems. So, different solutions are tried. H1B visas and larger trade zones are some of the more recent attempts to fix prior problems.

@FKadYFP-mbw: Lol, you are retarded. Free labor market implies that everyone can come to US and get a job (without a VISA). This will drive the wages down as people from poorer countries have a lower reservation wage. Lol, you are idiot. The most funny is that you refer to concepts such as free labor market, supply and demand, but you are obviously clueless. Free labor market in this context will result in higher supply and thus wages will go down ( keeping everything else equal).

@FKadYFP-ysa, I agree that the H1B system has little to do with tech advances. Much of the labor provided by the H1B system provided to the tech field could be (and is being) exported. However, I do not know whether it would have been better for the United States economy to have exported and lost jobs of an industry as we did with the textile and automobile industry and then waited for some of them to come back when Toyota and Honda decided to build plants in the United States, or to import workers so that workers already here worked along side them and both continued to spend their above median salaries in the United States.

Allowing people that demonstrate the the talent to work for advanced degrees in our high quality universities. Whether they stay in the United States (as they often do) or spread throughout the world, they very often advance the industry.

@FKadYFP-mbw, where do you draw the boarders for free market? My family has been in California since before it was part of the United States. Maybe the state of California should define worker and tariff boundaries based on that. After all, when things got bad during the dust bowl, California turned people away. If you claim free market, accept free market. Part of this means competing on a national and international scale. Farmers, textile manufactures and auto manufactures had to learn this a long time ago when many were looking down on them.

Thats correct. There is no way to distinguish from genuine H1B's(10% ) to fake H1B's(90%),

especially H4 turned H1b. they are absolute scammers.

H1B are imported by corporations to keep salaries of tech workers down. Tech salaries have been stagnant for years. Companies who abuse the H1B tend to stagnate and wither due to lack of innovation.

H1Bs are not requiered in a free labor market: If there is a shortage of skilled tech workers their salaries go up incentivizing young people to join these professions. Supply and demand.

Shut up bro - H1Bs have nothing to do with tech advances. H1Bs serve Wipro, Infy & Tata to scam the system by rolling on dirt cheap resources at regular resource prices... I do not mind if a genius comes here on a visa but your average Rajesh with a fake three year bachelor degree aint fitting that mold.
