Thread regarding VMware Inc. layoffs

For employees who are getting laid off this time, would their managers know the names already?

I see a lot of managers and director staying in late and talking behind closed doors. Does that mean these managers have a list of people from their teams that will be impacted? Does anyone know which teams / BUs are at high risk?

I left a few months ago, just as the Dell deal was announced. I saw this coming, but didn't know what form it would take. On the plus side, the REAL engineers won't have any problem finding a new job. The air wasting mouth breathers who are good at politics, OTOH, can suck it. There's been way too much of that at VMW. It's not a meritocracy anymore, it's a brown-nose-tocracy. I'm so glad I got out.

In many cases, the managers make the decision and submit the "priority" list.
