  • Statistics: Kmart absent in 31 states. 11 states, CO, IL, MI, MN, MT, NH, NC, ND, NV, TX, WA, have only 1 each. MA, MD, NM have 2 each. 45 Kmarts in US States total. Of those in the US, 16, marked with letter "P", have pharmacies.
The 6 mainland locations with letter "O" are owned by Seritage (according to their website), as opposed to the others which are leased. I did not bother researching the ownership status of the locations outside the mainland.
Speaking of which, Puerto Rico has 6 Kmarts, USVI has 4, Guam has 1, so 11 total stores outside of the US. 56 total Kmarts left as of now that are not closed or closing.
States with more than 2 Kmarts:
    CA: 9
    FL: 4
    NJ: 5
    NY: 6
    PA: 4

@3vok Awesome! I was singing this out loud! I like the attention to detail, as in when you wrote "Tem-ple-Ci-ty", it was 4 syllables, so you didn't have to include the word "Kmart", as opposed to the others (Raleigh, Caguas, & Wind Gap) which were 2 syllables each.

I have no life, LOL.

So, we're just going to ignore the Kmart inside the Sears? Seems logical, Eddie ignores Kmart entirely.

Come on Eddie, help me finish my song. I want to complete this song until we get to zero, and hopefully sooner rather than later. I started right after the November 2019 announcement:

60 Kmarts left in the mall, 60 Kmarts left
If Temple City should happen to fall,
59 Kmarts left in the mall.

59 Kmarts left in the mall, 59 Kmarts left
If Raleigh Kmart should happen to fall
58 Kmarts left in the mall.

58 Kmarts left in the mall, 58 Kmarts left
If Wind Gap Kmart should happen to fall,
57 Kmarts left in the mall.

57 Kmarts left in the mall, 57 Kmarts left
If Caguas Kmart should happen to fall,
56 Kmarts left in the mall!

  • Come on company. Help me finish this up soon!

A O means it's OUTSTANDING, and a P mean it's PERFECT!

I love how I’m being downvoted for stating a truth — that Seritage locations are leased locations in the company’s eyes. There are three buckets — Seritage-owned leased locations, TransformCo-owned locations, and third party-owned leased locations. Believe me, the whole mess with how the Seritage stores were spun off sickens me, but there needs to be an indication of the (few) stores that are left that TransformCo owns that Seritage does not. I believe that both August lists especially did a number on those owned locations but there’s a few left, and they aren’t notated properly on the list.

This is accurate. Seritage locations are not considered "owned" – when they were announced for closure internally the attached spreadsheet included their lease-end date. There is still a subset of stores owned by TransformCo and not Seritage, but since I was laid off in November I don't remember (or care to remember) which stores fall into which bucket, or which ones are left after the subsequent one-off closures.

Seritage is no longer owned by Sears/Kmart. A store owned by Seritage is being leased.

There's actually 57 Kmarts because the one within the Sears in Brooklyn is still open and running normal operations.

@mva If you bother to read his entire post, the answer to your question is clearly explained in the original posting.

@jsw Exactly right! Why some people don't bother reading is beyond me!

Sorry, I meant Seritage, not TransformCo.

Not OP but I think the stores with a P next to their names are the ones that have pharmacies, and the ones that have an O next to their name are the ones that are owned by TransformCo as opposed to being leased.

What does it mean if there is a -P or -O next to a store?
